Estella Abbott


SALT LAKE CITY – Estella Elizabeth Jensen Abbott, age 73, passed away Dec. 7, 2001 in Price.
She was born Dec. 16, 1926 in Huntington, to James William and Nola Sherman Jensen. She married Walter Joseph Abbott June 29, 1944 in Helper, later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple in 1965. He passed away Aug. 23, 1982.
She loved camping and fishing with her family and in her later years she enjoyed bingo, even when she was too ill to go out. As a member of the LDS Church, she served in various relief society callings. She was a hairdresser, working out of her home for about 20 years. She has lived in Price for the past two and one half years.
She is survived by one child, Robert Abbot; 11 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; four brothers, Lue (Lilla) Jensen, Carlsbad, N.M.; Orson Jensen, Irmine, Ky.; James R. (Coral) Jensen, Clearfield; Don R. (JoAnn) Jensen, Cleveland; and one special sister, Sally Timothy, Wellington. Preceded in death by parents; husband; two sons, Walter Jay and Rodney Dean; and two brothers.
Funeral services were Monday, Dec. 10, 2 p.m., in the Memorial Estates Chapel located at 6550 S. Redwood Road, Salt Lake City, where friends called one hour prior to services.

Peter Fredricksen


PRICE – Our loving husband, dad, grandpa and great-grandpa Pete Fredricksen, age 91, passed away Dec. 5, 2001 at home.
He was born Sept. 11, 1910 in Ferron, to Eli and Marie Jensen Fredricksen. Married June Jensen March 20, 1933 in Castle Dale.
Lifelong resident of Carbon and Emery counties. Peter attended schools in Emery County and graduated from South Emery High School. As a young man, Pete worked at Killpack’s Flour Mill and he later worked for the Emery County Road Department. Retired from the Ford Garage in Price as a mechanic with 35 years of dedicated service. He enjoyed working in his yard, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survived by loving wife of 68 years, June Fredricksen, Price; son, Pat (Peggy) Fredricksen, Price; grandson, Paul (Kristi) Fredricksen, Helper; granddaughter, Penny Jones, Moab; great-grandson, Patrick Fredricksen, Huntington; great-granddaughter, Ashley Fredricksen, Helper; and special family friend, Dewey Jarret. Preceded in death by parents, three brothers and one sister.
Graveside service was held Saturday, Dec. 8, 11 a.m., Price City Cemetery. Family was at Mitchell Funeral Home Friday evening, 7 to 8 p.m., and Saturday one hour prior to services.

Vida Keele “Sis”


PRICE – Vida Jane Bentley Keele, age 87, went home Dec. 4, 2001.
She was born May 23, 1914 in Antelope, to Elba and Vivian Hamilton Bentley. She married Wendell B. Keele Oct. 26, 1936 in Price. He left this earth and went home Nov. 20, 1961.
Member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church where she held many offices. “Sis” was a beautiful artist and she made the best breads and cookies. She played the guitar, organ and loved the outdoors. Vida worked school lunch and was a crossing guard for many years.
Survived by son, Lloyd (Vicki) Keele, Sandy; granddaughters, Cathy (Don) Brown, Midvale; Tracy (Rick) Collins,Helper; great grandchilden, Ricky and Antonio Collins, Caycee Brown; great-great-great-granddaughter, Cenjia Collins; brothers and sisters, Floyd “Chuck” Bentley, Salt Lake; Kenneth (Dunie) Bentley, West Valley; June (Val) Johnson, Ellen (Jim) Bates; Jerry (Eleanor) Bentley, all of Carbonville; Colleen (Jerol) Adair, Wellington; and many loving nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents; brothers, David, Ferrel and Ray; and sister, Evelyn Rhodes.
Funeral service was held Friday, Dec. 7, Mitchell Funeral Home. Interment, Price City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to the Utah Chapter Alzheimers Association, 1414 E. 4500 South Ste. 2, Salt Lake, UT 84117.
The family would like to acknowledge Parkdale Care Center for their care and compassion and a special thanks to Jeri Lynn, Karen and Linda for all your love and devotion.

John “Pappy” Pappas


PRICE – John Pappas, age 70, passed away Dec. 6, 2001.
He was born Nov. 23, 1931 in Kenilworth, to Andrew and Jennie Tittle Pappas. Married Evelyn Jensen July 12, 1952 in Elko, Nev.
“Pappy” retired from Andalex Resources Wildcat Loadout in December 1999 with many years of dedicated services. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding snowmobiles and the many wonderful friendships he shared over the years. “Pappy” loved spending time with his family and friends at his cabin, “the beloved Trail Canyon”. He will be dearly missed by his family and a community of friends.
Survived by wife, Evelyn Pappas; daughter, Lisa (Ray) Bridge, Phil (Patty) Pappas, all of Price; sister, Marilyn (Henry) Scorzato, Kenilworth; brother, Luke (Doris) Pappas, San Bernardino, Calif.; grandchildren, Steven (Katrina) Bridge, Rachel Pappas, both of Price; great-grandchildren, Tyson John, Corina Marie and Brittny Taylor Bridge, all of Price. He was preceded in death by parents; and sister, Lucille Phister.
Memorial service Friday, Dec. 14, 1 p.m., Mitchell Funeral Home. Family will be at Mitchell’s Friday one hour prior to services. Interment, Price City Cemetery.

Emma Schick


COLUMBIA – Emma Lennie Crawford Schick, age 77, passed away Dec. 5, 2001.
She was born June 19, 1924 in Stigler, Okla., to George Thomas and Nancy Kidd Crawford. Married John C. Schick Feb. 21, 1966 in Reno, Nev.
Resident of Columbia since 1944. Emma loved working in her yard and tending to her flower garden. She enjoyed quilting and sharing her talents with her family and friends.
Survived by husband, John C. Schick, Columbia; two daughters and two sons, Anita S. (Bill) Bird, Carolyn Crepps, Mervyn Harpine, David Harpine, all of California; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services under the direction of Mitchell Funeral Home.
