Jim Nichols


PRICE- James B. Nichols, age 85, passed away Feb. 18, 2002 at his home.
He was born Feb. 21, 1916 in Rupert, Idaho, to Holt and Mary A. Hellewell Nichols.
Jim was a retired member of the United Mine Workers of America, King Coal/U.S. Fuel Hiawatha Local 6363 with 30 years of dedicated service.
This man was the greatest thing in our lives. There will never be a day pass by that he will not be in our thoughts and hearts. For you see, this man was our Dad.
Survived by his children, Donna Bury, Huntington; James Burrup Nichols Jr., Price; Bob Nichols, Price; Pat (Frank) Modes, Price; wife, Vera, Price; seven grandsons, four granddaughters; 16 great-grandsons, five great-granddaughters; brother, Robert Nichols, Spokane, Wash.; sister, Mary Martin, Paul, Idaho; and sister, Veda Cronk, Henderson, Nev. Preceded in death by parents; grandson, Tony Modes; brothers, George, Holt and Bill Nichols; and son-in-law, Richard Bury.
The family would like extend a special thanks to Rocky Mountain Hospice and Margaret Colosimo. Funeral service Thursday, Feb. 21, Mitchell Funeral Home. Interment, Price City Cemetery.

Jesus Canchola

“Together again”


HELPER – Our beloved angel, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, Jesus Madrigal Canchola, age 98, left us on February 20, 2002 at her daughter’s home in West Valley City. She has gone to be with her Savior and her best friend, her husband. She was born April 27, 1903 in Santa Fe, Del Rio, Michoacan, Mexico to Pedro and Marie Hernandez Madrigal. Married Louis Canchola October 1942 in Price. He died Jan. 29, 2002.
Our beloved angel loved gardening, working in her yard and having her children and grandchildren around her. She was a long time resident of Helper and a member of the Spanish Assembly of God in Price.
Survived by son, Fidel O. (Christina) Sanchez, Spring Glen; daughter, Jenny Sandoval, Seattle, Wash.; Irene (Billy) Trujillo, West Valley. Also survived by 33 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husband, Louis; parents; brother, Antonio Madrigal; sister, Consuelo Madrigal; and six grandchildren.
We would like to thank Harmony Hospice and we deeply appreciate our family members for your support and the love you have shared during this time.
Funeral service was Feb. 23, 1 p.m., Mitchell Funeral Home. Family was at Mitchell’s Friday evening, 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday one hour prior to services. Interment, Mountain View Cemetery, Helper.

Clifford Richardson


PRICE – Clifford L. Richardson, age 82, passed away Feb. 22, 2002 at his home in Price surrounded by his family.
He was born Oct. 3, 1919 in Higbee, Mo., to Alex Daniel and Pearl Warfard Richardson. Married Lucille Blackburn June 18, 1944 in Elko, Nev. and have been residents of Carbon County since that time.
He loved working on cars and could turn a worthless wreck into a piece of art. As a member of the UMWA he worked in the local mines for 40 years, 38 years at Horse Canyon, retiring in 1981. He was a wonderful dad to his four children and a better grandfather to his 13 grandchildren by whom he will be deeply missed.
He is survived by loving wife, Lucille, Price; children, Robert (Susan) Richardson, Price; Phyllis (Terry) Smith, Layton; April (Michael) Riley, Ferron; 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Also survived by 10 half brothers. Preceded in death by son, Marvin; and one grandson, Marshall.
Memorial services will be Wednesday, Feb. 27, 11 a.m., at Fausett Mortuary in Price where friends may call one hour prior to services.
