Kids Fishing Event Planned for Saturday

By By

On Saturday the Division of Wildlife Resources will hold its annual Kids’ Fishing Event at the Huntington Game Farm Pond from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. All kids and their parents are invited. The DWR will have extra poles, reels and other tackle for those kids who don’t have their own.
The event is free, except that adults and kids 14 years of age and older need a fishing license. No license is required for kids under 14. The trout limit is four. The bluegill limit is 10. The bass limit is four with only one bass larger than 15 inches. The limits are the same for all licensed anglers and unlicensed anglers under 14 years of age.
The Huntington Game Farm Pond is about one and a half miles north of the town of Huntington. To arrive at the pond, travel to the town of Huntington. From Main Street, turn up the Huntington Canyon Road and turn right after about a half a mile. The street sign will read, “Huntington North Loop Road.” Travel north on this road for about 1 mile. When the asphalt road takes a sharp bend to the west, leave the road and continue to travel north on a gravel farm road. After another quarter mile, you will pass through an open gate to the game farm. Continue on this road to the pond parking lot.
The pond will be stocked with trout immediately before the event, so we expect good fishing for the kids.
