Theresa Saracino Dalpiaz
HELPER – Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Theresa Saracino Dalpiaz, age 73, passed away July 28, 2002 in Price.
She was born Oct. 6, 1928 in Price to Ralph and Annie Alfonso Saracino. Married Louis F. Dalpiaz Nov. 13, 1947 in Las Vegas, Nev. He died Aug. 17, 1974.
Theresa was a devoted Catholic who took great pride in being an eucharistic minister and co-founder of the Merry Mix-Ups. She volunteered for many church functions: communion for the sick, St. Anthony’s Catholic carnival and various other church services. Because of her untiring work, she was voted St. Anthony’s Woman of the Year for 2002.
She was very proud of being a lifelong Democrat and was passionate about the party’s issues.
Her greatest joy was her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Family outings, dinners and reunions were extremely important to Theresa.
Theresa retired from Carbon High School, where she was the attendance officer, and just last November she left Chuck’s Pharmacy after many years of dedicated service.
Loving and missing her are her four sons, their wives and families, Louis F. (Sue) Dalpiaz Jr., Salt Lake City; Terry (Stacey) Dalpiaz, Grand Junction, Colo.; Mike (Angel) Dalpiaz, Helper; and Tom (Kathy) Dalpiaz, Spring Creek, Nev. The proud grandma of 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, she is also survived by brothers, Larry (Connie) Saracino, Al (Donna) Saracino, Dan (Polly) Saracino; and sister, Rose McKinnon, who will miss her deeply, as well as a community of friends. Awaiting Theresa are her husband, Louis; parents; brothers, Jim and Tony; sisters, Teresa and Mary; and great-granddaughter, Emilie Sage Carr.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, July 31, 10 a.m., at St. Anthony Catholic Church. Holy Rosary will be recited Tuesday, July 30, 7 p.m., at the church in Helper. Family will be at the church Tuesday and Wednesday one hour prior to services. Committal service, Mountain View Cemetery, Helper, under the direction of Mitchell Funeral Home.
Martha Anderson
PRICE/TUCSON, Ariz. – Beloved wife and sister, Martha Poulos Anderson, passed away June 23, 2002 from complications of a stroke in Tucson, Ariz.
She was born May 2, 1926 to Alex Ted and Doris Ronald Poulos in Heiner. Married Don Anderson July 3, 1950 in Salt Lake City and they enjoyed 51 years together, golfing and traveling.
She attended and graduated from Carbon High School in 1944.
She lived in Pleasanton, Calif., for many years. She was employed with McKenna-Vonkash-mitz accounting firm in Oakland, Calif., for 21 years, from which she retired and moved to Tucson, Ariz., to make their home.
She is survived by husband, Don Anderson; sisters, Florence (Paul) Vanzant; Sandra (Harold) Watson; Anita (Bille) Webb; sister-in-law, Virginia Poulos; many loving nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents; brothers, Teda A. and George Poulos; nephews, Alex. T. Poulos and Gary Webb.
Graveside service Wednesday, July 31, 10 a.m., Price City Cemetery, under the direction of Mitchell Funeral Home. Funeral services were conducted June 27 in Tucson, Ariz.
Lola Lay
CASTLE DALE – Lola Beth Nyberg Cox Lay, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away suddenly at her home July 24, 2002.
Her life was spent loving and serving her family.
Born Feb. 28, 1922 in La Point to Gilbert McCoy and Estella Fern Warburton Nyberg. She grew up in La Point and graduated from Altera High School.
During World War II, she worked at Hill Air Force Base repairing propeller blades on bombers. After the war, she married Clyde Ray Cox in Salt Lake City on Dec. 11, 1945. Marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple. They later divorced. On Nov. 5, 1977, she married Ervin C. Lay. He passed away Oct. 24, 1992.
Beth was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in several positions in the church, including the Primary and Relief Society presidencies of her ward.
After raising her children, Beth worked at the Co-Op Store in Castle Dale and then for the state until she was 77.
She is survived by her four children, Judy Rae (John) Clement, Springville; Clayton McCoy (Jerri Lynn) Cox, Helper; Randal Scot Cox, Castle Dale; Marquita (Phillip) Cox, Orangeville; 18 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; sister, Maxine (Clinton) Morrill, Hobbs, N.M.; first husband and friend, Clyde R. Cox, Elmo. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ervin C. Lay; and an infant sister.
Funeral services were Saturday, July 27, at the Castle Dale LDS Stake Center. Viewing was Friday, July 26, at Fausett Mortuary in Castle Dale. Interment, Castle Dale Cemetery.
