Marc Garcia
PRICE – Marcos C. Garcia, age 49, passed away Aug. 29, 2002 in Price.
Born Jan. 24, 1953 in Dragerton to Thomas Conrad and Celina Ulibarri Garcia. Married Kathy Saccomano in Price, later divorced.
Marc was blessed with receiving the love of his life, his daughter, Jessica Lynn, whom he dearly loved spending time with. He had a loving and forgiving heart and his absence will leave a large void in the hearts of those who loved him. Marc had a great sense of humor and he always enjoyed a good laugh. Marc enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, motorcycles and having coffee with his friends.

Survived by daughter, Jessica Lynn (Nathan) Sadorus, Colorado Springs, Colo.; and sister, Carmel (John) Gallegos, Price. Preceded in death by parents; and one sister, Elizabeth Rowland.
Memorial Mass was Tuesday, Sept. 3, Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church. Commital, Price City Cemetery under the direction of Mitchell Funeral Home.
Emma Stevenson
PROVO – Emma Lou Steven-son, age 85, passed away at her home Sept. 2, 2002.
She was born June 9, 1917 in Ferron to Joseph Lewis and Ruth Carlson Storrs. Married James Andrew Stevenson May 15, 1939. They were later sealed for eternity in the Provo LDS Temple. She has one daughter, Patti Nichols.
Emma Lou was multi-talented with a love for art, writing, music, poetry, drama, nutrition, color and fashion. She loved to help others and share her vast knowledge with them. She loved all children and enjoyed her church callings in the Primary. She worked for Price City Library and also was a member of the Price Community Theatre. Emma Lou loved to write and served as president of the Price Chapter of the Utah League of Writers. She helped to initiate and create the book “Legends of Carbon and Emery Counties.” Most of all, she loved being with her great-grandchildren and they loved their “Moo.”
She is survived by daughter, Patti; sister, Evelyn Funk; sisters-in-law, Shirley Stevenson and Elaine Storrs; three grandchildren; Cindy (Douglas) Chipman; Lori (Britton) Bigelow, Justin Nichols; six great-grandchildren, CshaNel, Shanon, Dallin, Camille, Sam Chipman and Alexia Bige-low. She was preceded in death by parents; husband; brother, John Paul Storrs; and granddaughter, Tiffany Nichols.
Funeral service was held Fri., Sept. 6, at Price 4th LDS Ward Chapel. Interment, Price City Cemetery under the direction of Mitchell Funeral Home.
Pauline Porter
PRICE – Pauline Sutherland Bull Porter, age 95, passed away peacefully at her home in Price on Sept. 3, 2002.
She was born June 7, 1907 in Fresno, Calif., to Alice Maude Wood and James Bull. Married Robert Porter, Jan. 9, 1944 in Van Nuys, Calif. He passed away on Aug. 20, 1987. She was a member of the Catholic Church.
As a young woman, she was a professional ballet dancer, touring with Fox Theatre throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico. She loved animals, especially dogs, and was a member of the ASPCA in Las Vegas, Nev. She spent countless hours taking care of unwanted animals, finding good homes for them. She also enjoyed horseback riding and playing Keno.
Pauline was a risk-taker and entrepreneur, with her husband, Bob, they founded and managed Porter Manufacturing. They invented and patented various automotive and floral adhesives, one of which was used for the floats in the Tournament of Roses Parade.
She will be remembered by family and friends for her spirit of adventure and fun, her positive outlook on life and her generosity.
Survived by niece, Diane (Tim) Simmons, Lawrence; great-niece, Sara (Jason) Lamb, Helper; great-nephews, Paul (Brianne) Simmons and Josh Simmons, Lawrence.
The family would like to thank Frank and Carolyn Sanderson, neighbors of Pauline, for their faithful and loving care.
Memorial Mass was held Mon. Sept. 9, Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church. Committal service, Craig Road Cemetery, Las Vegas, Nev., under the direction of Mitchell Funeral Home.
Melvin Jensen
LAWRENCE – Melvin Fernit Jensen, our dad, returned to his Father in Heaven and into the arms of his eternal companion Sept. 4, 2002 due to complications following surgery.
Dad was born April 21, 1915 in Elberta to Lafayette Jensen and Christena Kathyrene Knibb Jensen. He grew up in Lawrence working on the farm. Dad married the love of his life, Margaret Adessa Ramage, on Aug. 19, 1939. Their marriage was sealed in the Manti LDS Temple Sept. 13, 1941. They were blessed with a daughter and three sons.
Our dad was a hard working man, working on the farm and in the coal mines.
He loved the gospel of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He strengthened his family by the testimony he had. He held many callings in the gospel.
Dad is survived by daughter, Judy (Paul) Giles; son, Darrol (Margo) Jensen; daughter-in-law, Joan (Tom) Souza; 11 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, six step-grandchildren and 18 step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and two sons, James and Leon Jensen.
Thanks, dad, for wonderful times and memories. We would like to thank those who helped in caring for our father in any way, especially his granddaughter, KendahlLe, who took care of him.
Funeral services were Sat., Sept. 7, at the Huntington 5th LDS Ward Chapel. Burial was in the Lawrence City Cemetery under the direction of Fausett Mortuary.
Cleonda Hansen
SPRING GLEN – Cleonda Nelson Hansen, age 93, passed away Sept. 6, 2002 at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born May 14, 1909 in Manti to August Earl and Henrietta Laurentzie Lowry Nelson. She married Harold Peter Hansen June 14, 1933 in the Manti LDS Temple.
She was skilled at crocheting and quilting, giving most of what she made to her family and friends, with love in every stitch. She loved being wife and mother and worked hard to provide good things for her family, baking bread, cookies and her special sponge cake.
As an active member of the LDS Church, she served in numerous callings for over 60 years.
Cleonda is survived by her children, Earl and Glenda Hansen, Spring Glen; Judy and Doug Ferguson, Layton; Jim and Karen Hansen, Huntington; daughter-in-law Alene Hansen Merrill, Huntington; 24 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren. Also survived by stepbrother, Ray Anderson, and stepsisters, Velda Smith and Ruth Haaggerson. Preceded in death by her husband, Harold; son, Roger; granddaughter, Sherry Ferguson; grandson, Ralph Lehman; brothers, Bill and Lee; and sisters, Katherine, Jean and Margret.
Funeral services will be Tues, Sept. 10, at 11 a.m. at the Spring Glen LDS Chapel, which she helped build. Friends may call one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery in Helper under the direction of Fausett Mortuary.
Zannie Engavo Farrer
ORANGEVILLE – Zanpher “Zannie” Lavina Engavo Farrer, age 37, of Orangeville, formerly of Roosevelt, died Sept. 6, 2002 from injuries sustained in an auto-pedestrian accident near Orangeville.
She was born Jan. 15, 1965 in Fort Washakie, Wyoming to Antoine and Alletta Chegup Engavo.
She married Glenn Farrer, June 13, 1997, in Whiterocks.
Zannie loved to play basketball and softball. She helped coach her children’s ball teams in Orangeville. She loved family gatherings and especially liked to get with her extended family on Thanksgiving, Christmas and other holidays and birthdays. Zannie was easy to get to know and was liked by everyone.
She is survived by her husband, Glenn, of Orangeville; son, Antoine Keith “Tony” Engavo Farrer, and Kaycee Alletta Engavo Farrer, both of Orangeville; stepsons, Neil (Amanda) Farrer and Kerry (Carrie) Farrer, all of Roosevelt; and four grandchildren.
Also surviving are a brother, Aaron Poowegup, Neola, and sister, Albertina Poowegup of Fort Duchesne.
She is preceded in death by three brothers, Jess Engavo, Ernie Engavo and Garrett Engavo.
Funeral services were held Mon., Sept. 9, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. at the Hullinger Mortuary.
Burial in the Fort Duchesne Cemetery under direction of the Hullinger Mortuary.
Virginia Johnson
PRICE – Virginia May Ashley Johnson, age 82, passed away Aug. 31, 2002 at her home.
She was born July 31, 1920, in Bedford, Ind., to Roy and Fleta Worden Ashley. Married Sneed A. Johnson Oct. 25, 1969 in Las Vegas, Nev. He died June 9, 1996.
Virginia was a past worthy matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, Naomi Chapter 13 in Price, and also past worthy matron of the Star of Lakewood Chapter 617 in Lakewood, Calif. She was a member of the Daughters of the Nile.
Virginia was a resident of Carbon County since 1983 and will be dearly missed by a community of friends.
Survived by two sons, one daughter and their spouses, Charles (Edna) Sipes, Mt. Vernon, Wash.; David (Betty) Sipes, Logan; Rebecca (Mark) Brewer, Delta, Colo.; 25 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. Preceded in death by parents; husband; sons, Rian Sipes; Daniel Harrison; brother, Charles Ashley.
Funeral service was Thursday, Sept. 5, at Mitchell Funeral Home. Interment, Price City Cemetery.
Mary Fullmer
ORANGEVILLE – Our beloved Mary Pedersen Call Fullmer passed away in Salt Lake City from complications of pulmonary disease on Sept. 7, 2002.
She was born July 16, 1921 in Riverton to Jens Christian and Laura Belle Webb Pedersen. She was the last of nine children. She was married to Wallace B. Fullmer on March 7, 1942 in Malad, Idaho. They were later sealed together in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
She would crochet and make beaded doilies. She was easily found shopping and loved to support shopping on QVC.
Her greatest love in life came from her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, where she had been active in most all organizations, especially Young Women’s. She also served in the Los Angeles LDS Temple genealogy library.
She is lovingly remembered by her family, including her children, Lauraly (Patrick) Jones, Orangeville; Jerry W. (Lisa) Fullmer, Sandy; Julie Kay (Jim) Jackson, Buffalo, N.Y. Also, one sister, Estella Wiechert of Kaysville, is still surviving. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers and five sisters.
Friends may call for a visitation at Fausett Mortuary in Castle Dale on Tuesday, Sept. 10, from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be Wed., Sept. 11, at 11 a.m. at the Orangeville LDS Ward Chapel, with a viewing at the church one hour prior to services. Interment will follow in the Orangeville Cemetery.
Barbara McIntire
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Barbara L. McIntire of Huntsville, Ala., age 74, died Sun., Sept. 1, 2002.
Mrs. McIntire was a native of Salt Lake City, but lived in Huntsville, Ala., for the past nine years. She was a librarian in Madison and Big Cove.
Survivors include son, Kip McIntire, Evanston, Wyo.; daughter, Vici Landkamer, Huntsville, Ala.; brother, Dean Jones, Salt Lake City; and sister, Carol Hutchison, Lancaster, Calif.
Funeral service was held Fri., Sept. 6, at Spry Funeral Home in Huntsville, Ala. Graveside services will be Wednesday, Sept. 11, 1:30 p.m., Price City Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, noon to 1 p.m., at Mitchell Funeral Home in Price.
