I am very concerned about “local” control over our future. Has anybody noticed how much money “outsiders” have been putting into the campaign to oppose the monument? This money is coming from a single-issue special interest group-the off-road recreationists. They represent a very narrow recreation interest that couldn’t care less about what’s best for Emery County.
They aren’t concernced about our water rights. They aren’t concerned about our grazing rights! They aren’t concerned about building our local economy. We can’t let these outsiders hijack the future of the San Rafael Swell. We share their concerns about access, but we can’t sacrifice our local priorities for the narrow interests of outsiders.
We can’t let them kill our best chance to have local contol over our future. That’s why it’s so important that we vote “for” the monument process.
