Dr. McKell, Dr. Winters and our entire staff will hold a holiday open house on Dec. 5 from 5-8 p.m. at 365 North Center in Castle Dale. Every one is welcome to come see the new dental office, enjoy refreshments and get a complimentary picture with Santa Claus.
Mail Boxes Etc. Teams Up with “Today” Show Toy Drive to Benefit Local Children
Between Nov. 25-Dec. 13, Mail Boxes Etc. will be collecting new, unwrapped, nonviolent toys, books, games and CDs. The items will be distributed by a local children’s charity. To find a participating location, visit www.mbe.com and click on the Today Show Toy Drive link.
Quivira Coalition and Utah Range Coalition: Survival Tools for Today’s Ranch
A workshop on “Innovative Ideas for Ranching in the 21st Century” will be held Dec. 13 from 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. at the Red Cliffs Lodge, in Moab. They will present new ideas in livestock grazing, land management, and low stress livestock handling. Come hear about these innovative ideas from people who practice them. The registration fee includes lunch and copies of text. RSVP’s are needed for lunch. Deadline is Dec. 2. Museum of Church History and Art
“With Every Stitch” a new textile exhibit will be open from Nov. 15 through Oct. 19, 2003. “Christmas Creches from Around the World” will be open from Nov. 23 through Jan. 1, 2003 and will be showing Nativity scenes from around the world. Continuing exhibits are “The Living Christ,” “Valiant Pioneer Children” and “Families and Faith: The Fabric of LDS Life” open through Feb 2. 2003. The museum is open Mon.-Fri. from 9 a.m.-9p.m., Sat.-Sun. CEU Ballet Christmas Concert
Ballet Repertory Ensemble, Inc. will be presenting their annual Christmas concert. They will be performing “The Nutcracker” on Nov. 21 and 23. On Nov. 22 and 25 they will perform “Animals Christmas,” “Angels” and “The Grinch.” Shows begin at 7:30 p.m. Box office opens at 6:30 p.m. No children under 5 please. Cameras are prohibited. Tickets range from $2-$7. No credit cards will be accepted. Artistic Director is Carolyn Gwyther.
Folk Art Apprenticeships

New Snow College and SUU Program Guarantees Transfer of Credits
Snow College and Southern Utah University have set into action the Dual Admission/Intent-To-Transfer Program. This program guarantees transfer of credits from Snow to SUU. Successful completion of Snow’s general education requirements will fulfill SUU’s general requirements, if students receive a passing grade. Participating students will also have access to services, activities and advisement from the University while still attending Snow. They will also be eligible to participate in sporting events, student activities and cultural events as any regular SUU student is, immediately.
Huntington Elementary Craft Fair
The Huntington Elementary will be holding it’s annual craft fair on Dec. 4 from 1-3 p.m. Some items for sale are bears, birdhouses, moose and t-shirts. Plan to attend.
Red Cross Blood Drive
The Red Cross is sponsoring a blood drive at the Emery Medical Center on Dec. 3. You can come to donate in the Physical Therapy department from 1-6 p.m.
Dream House Photo Contest
Utah Preservation magazine’s annual photo contest is seeking images of Utah’s most charming, most elegant and most intriguing historic homes: The homes you have always wanted to own and live in–a dream house. AARP Tax-Aide, the nation’s largest, free, volunteer run tax counseling and prepartation service is seeking volunteers of all ages who want to learn tax law and prepare tax returns for taxpayers of low-to-moderate income, with special attention to those over 60. Fourth Annual Turkey Trot
Several area businesses are sponsoring the 4th annual Turkey Trot 5K and 1 mile runs on Thanksgiving morning Nov. 28. There will also be races for young children. Utah Arts Festival Seeks Composers
The Utah Arts Festival is accepting applications from Utah composers for the 12th annual orchestral Composer Commission. Those interested in applying for the 2003 Commission must submit a one-page biographical sheet, two bound copies of a score (preferably for full symphony orchestra) that represents the composer’s highest artistic accomplishments, and two quality recordings of the work. A Tree for the Festival of Trees
A group of Emery County ladies are decorating a tree for the Festival of the Trees to be held the first week of December which benefits the Primary Childrens Medical Center. The group, under the direction of Sara Grindley, are planning “Sister to Sister” a tree dedicated to Toni Oliverson, an Orangeville cancer survivor. U of U Mood Disorders Clinic
The University of Utah Mood Disorders Clinic is seeking participants for one of the largest studies ever to study medications used to treat schizophrenia. College bound high school students who want to take the ACT Assessment have two chances to register before the Dec. 14 test date.
