Students Study Newton’s Laws

Kameron Perkins and Stacy Clarke.

Duane Merrell’s two physics classes are learning Newton’s Laws. In particular, the laws of force, mass and acceleration. The students built rockets and figured the weight of the components to achieve maximum distance. This required the review of last semester’s motion equations.
The winning rocket was built by Trevor Blackwell with a distance of 193 meters. “The secret is to say ‘physics’ before you launch and build the rocket in less than five minutes,” Blackwell advised his classmates on his victory.
