Tricia P. Zwahlen has taught in the Emery School District for the past 18 years. She is a great teacher and always taking time for her students. As part of her curriculum she has been using the magazine, “Time For Kids” ever since it started, eight years ago. The last four years she has been completing monthly surveys for this periodical, a vital tool for teachers and a unique avenue for her students to connect with the world around them.
Recently she was honored for her efforts in this aspect of her teaching. “Time For Kids” flew Zwahlen back to New York to a special teacher’s forum in New York City. She was one of 10 teachers selected from our nation to attend this special teacher’s round-table. There was a representative from Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Jersey, Oklahoma, Texas, California, two from New York, and then Miss Zwahlen was there to represent Utah.
When the teachers assembled at the Time-Life Building in New York they were greeted by the entire “Time For Kids” staff. They asked each of the teachers throughout the days meeting many important questions that will help shape the new look of “Time For Kids” in the future.
When the required agenda had been completed Miss Zwahlen was able to visit many historic places in New York: The Statue of Liberty, Battery Park, Times Square, The Rockefeller Center, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, The Empire State Building, Ground Zero, Radio City Music Hall, and The Smithsonian Native American Museum. These are just to name a few.
Huntington Elementary appreciates Miss Zwahlen and all she does for our school. She is a very gifted teacher and always willing to give, “Time For Kids!”
