Madrel McKee
PRICE – Our loving mom, grandma, great-grandma, aunt, sister, and friend passed away April 24, 2003.
She was born Sept. 10, 1918 in Price, to Nels and Alice Grames Brotherson. Married James Elden “Red” McKee Dec. 31, 1947 in Price. He died May 8, 1986.
Madrel was a member of the LDS Church and the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. She loved quilting and was a member of the Quilting Guild. Over the years she enjoyed her many wonderful friends and luncheons she shared at the senior center in Price. During that time she helped work on the monthly newsletter and she enjoyed the ceramic classes. She loved working in her yard and caring for her flowers. Her greatest love was for her family and she will be dearly missed by all.
Survived by daughter, Nancy (Gary) Motte; son, Ronald (Bonnie) Murray; 11 grandchildren, Ed (Jodi) Liin, Teddy Liin, Elly Thomason, Kerry Motte, Dianne (Tom) Hyatt, Carla (Quinn) Nelson, Debbie (Tony) Mower, Ronald (Camera) Murray, Cory Murray, Tammy (Mike) Phillips, Kim (Mark) Graham; 24 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; two brothers, Floyd (Jackie) Brotherson; Clyde (Betty) Brotherson; and two sisters, Gayle Atwood and Vivian Grako. Preceded in death by daughter; and son-in-law, Lea and Heino Liin; sister, Mildred Warner.
Funeral service April 28, Wellington 1st LDS Ward Chapel. Interment, Price City Cemetery under the direction of Mitchell Funeral Home.
Carol Davis
“Dearest Grammy”
PRICE – The rock of our family, sweet wife, most loving mother, super grammy, bestest sister, greatest aunt, and most caring non judgmental friend to all slipped peacefully and unexpectedly back to our heavenly father April 24, 2003 surrounded by loving family and friends.
Carol Sue Misner Davis, 54, was born Dec. 4, 1948 in Dragerton, to Carroll and Hazel Carroll Misner. She grew up in Dragerton, and attended East Carbon High. Her knight in shining armor, Dean H. Davis, swept her off her feet and married her June 17, 1967 in Helper.
Grammy adored her family and especially loved her little ones who were her most precious pride and joy who always made her smile.
She was beautiful inside and out a very talented giving lady who loved life and lived it fully while constantly serving family, friends and her community always listening with her caring ears and most compassionate heart she was our number one support and a truly remarkable woman in every sense.
Mom made her house a beautiful comfortable safe home by filling it with unconditional love for her husband, children, grandchildren, relatives, friends, and friends of friends.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
She leaves us with so many great remarkable memories that we will cherish in our hearts and minds, always and forever we love you, miss you so much and can’t wait for the day to be reunited with you.
You have touched all of our lives for the best and we are so grateful for our precious time with you and only wish it could have been longer.
You are our love, our hopes, our memories, our laughter, our tears, our joy, our everything.
We know you will be watching over us until we meet again. We love you!

Donna Lynn McKendrick
PRICE-Donna Lynn McKendrick, age 62, passed away April 21, 2003 in Provo surrounded by her loving family, after a brief battle with cancer. She was born July 13, 1940 in price to George S. and Reva K. Brundage. Donna Lynn married Norman S. McKendrick July 15, 1955 in Price.
She enjoyed crafts, quilting, doll making, crochet and ceramics, but her primary love was her family. She always put them first in everything she did, though her failing health made it difficult at times. There was a hug and a cup of coffee for anyone who happened to drop by. Her tender love for her children, grandchildren and great-granchildren will be deeply missed.
She is survived by her loving husband and best friend, Norman of Price and children; Sheldon D. and Gina McKendrick, Terri and Dan Allred, Monty R. and Joy McKendrick, all of Price; seven grandchildren and seven and one half great-grandchildren. Also survived by sister Twila Mae and Roy McKendrick of Clearfield, and brothers George E. and Judith Brundage of Bluebell, and Gerald and Loreen Brundage of Price. Preceded in death by her parents and brothers Rawlin and Sheldon.
Funeral services were held April 25 at the Ascension St. Matthew’s Church. Burial was in Cliffview Cemetery in Price under the direction of Fausett Mortuary.
Arva May Mercer Smith
PRICE-Arva May Mercer Smith, 78, died peacefully on April 22, 2003 in Salt Lake City following a short illness. Arva was born on July 3, 1924 in Lehi to Charles E. and Geneve Evans Mercer. She often reflected upon her youth in Lehi, particularly her grade school years with much fondness.
Arva graduated from Lehi High School and from Brigham Young University during World War II, when the Y was still a small school located at the old lower campus. Following graduation with a degree in English, Arva worked as a journalist for both the Daily Herald and the Salt Lake Tribune.
While working in Provo, she met her husband, John W. Smith, on a blind date. John, after graduating from BYU, worked for the Internal Revenue Service. Following the birth of their first two children, Michael and Shelley, the family was transferred to Price. The family grew to seven with the birth of three more children, Craig, Miriam and Andrea. Arva and John raised their family and lived the rest of their lives in Price. Arva and John were married for 45 years until John’s death in 1995.
While living in Price, Arva was active in civic and church affairs. She was a band mother, a choir mother and, even though she was not a sports fan, Arva frequented the sidelines of her children’s baseball, football and softball games and track and field meets. Arva served in many church positions, but seemed to enjoy those most when she worked with the youth.
Arva continued her journalistic endeavors in Price becoming an award-winning correspondent for the Deseret News and an award-winning staff writer for the Sun-Advocate.
Arva loved to read and owned thousands of books. She also loved the arts, particularly theater and movies. She would recount her impressions of plays she had seen from her early childhood to the numerous plays and musicals she saw on Broadway and beyond.
Arva will be remembered by those who knew her for her kind and sensitive heart.
A wonderful mother and grandmother, Arva was very proud of her children and grandchildren and their accomplishments. One truly tragic event of her life was the unexpected loss of her oldest son, Michael, while he was serving a LDS mission in Australia in 1970.
Arva was an avid traveler and was fortunate to be able to spend her last few years travelling around the country and abroad.
Arva never lost her zest for life or her interest in current events. She read the newspapers every day and was a fan of television news and newsmagazines. She grew to understand the power of prayer and her last years were filled with faith.
She is survived by her daughter, Shelley (Robert) Beatty, Kansas City, grandchildren, Jennifer, Becca and B.J., who is serving a mission in the Czech Republic; son, J. Craig (Anneli), Salt Lake City, grandchildren, Courtney, Ethan and Dylan; daughter Miriam, San Francisco; and daughter, Andrea (Wasim) Khan, Kansas City, grandchildren, Zain and Aalia. She is also survived by her four siblings, Charles (Dorothy) Mercer, Simi Valley, Calif; Jedda (Dave) Monson, Bountiful; Julian (Diana) Mercer, Lehi; and Bill (Beverly) Mercer, Menan, Idaho; many nieces and nephews, as well as three special aunts and one uncle, Lillian Reader, Zona Steiner, DeVere Oliver and Glen Evans.
The family wishes to thank Arva’s exceptional caring neighbors and friends in Price, the doctors and staff at the University of Utah Medical Center and the Salt Lake Specialty Medical Center.
Services were held April 28 at the Price Fifth Ward building. Interment was in the Price City Cemetery under the direction of Fausett Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Arva’s name to the College of Eastern Utah Scholarship Fund is suggested.
Clyde White
HUNTINGTON – Our beloved husband, father and brother, Clyde DeLynn White, age 58, passed away April 23, 2003 at Castleview Hospital in Price.
He was born May 2, 1944 in Bountiful, to Burton and Clara E. White. Married Aleta Atwood Oct. 2, 1971 in Salt Lake City.
Clyde enjoyed inventing things, tinkering with small engines, camping and being with his family and friends. He was a loving husband and father, a fun brother, and special grandpa. We will all miss hearing his whole hearted laugh.
Survived by wife, Aleta; children, Melinda, Dustin, Dayna, Cameron, Natasha and Whitney; brothers and sisters, Dennis, Vernon, Alice, Carla, Dorothy, Rachel, Joanne, Trudy; and 10 loving grandchildren. Preceded in death by parents; and brother, Rulon.
Funeral service Monday, April 28, at Mitchell Funeral Home. Interment, Huntington City Cemetery.
Delcina Colosimo
PRICE – Our loving mother, grandmother, and sister, Thursey Delcina Curtis Johnson Colosimo, age 87, passed away April 26, 2003 at Castle Country Care Center in Price.
Born Nov. 18, 1915 in Cleveland, to Joseph A. and Astella Olson Curtis. Married Orvil C. Johnson July 7, 1937. Orvill passed away May of 1953. She later married Sam Colosimo Oct. 16, 1953. Sam passed away July 31, 1970.
Delcina was a member of the LDS Church and she enjoyed teaching Sunday School and primary in Hiawatha for many years. She worked at the confectionary in Hiawatha, Massey’s and JC Penney. She enjoyed spending time and hunting rocks at Woodside and Cedar Mountain. Delcina was known for her beautiful doilies and afghans that she loved to crochet and she won many prizes with both. She was a loving mother, who will be deeply missed.

Keith Alan Randall
WELLINGTON-Keith Alan Randall, age 23, passed away April 26, in Grand Junction due to complications following a motorcycle accident. He was born May 19, 1979 in Price to Keith T. and Tracy Fillmore Randall. Keith married Brandy Long on May 10, 2000 in Las Vegas, Nev.
He loved music, from Bach to U2. His gifted singing voice brought sweetness to those who listened to him. He sang with a rock band, Emery High Choir and Huntington Glee Club. His love of life and people brought him many friends by whom he will be dearly missed. His greatest love was reserved for his family; his wife Brandy and daughter Bailey. He was his dad’s best buddy and they shared many precious and fond memories.
Keith is survived by his loving wife Brandy and daughter Bailey of Wellington, parents Keith and Tracy Randall and sisters Amber and Cassie, all of Cleveland. Also survived by grandparents Merrill and Freda Fillmore of Cleveland. Preceded in death by grandparents Harvey and Beatrice Randall.
Funeral services will be held May 1, at 11 a.m. in the Cleveland LDS Chapel where friends may call one hour prior to services. Friends may sign the register at Fausett Mortuary Tuesday and Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Burial will be in the Cleveland Cemetery under the direction of Fausett Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Keith Randall Memorial Fund at Carbon Credit Union or Zions Bank.
Eva Ann Baker Ellett
EAST CARBON-Our kind and beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and aunt, Eva Ann Baker Ellett, died April 26, 2003 at home with her family at her side. She was born July 27, 1911 in Bicknell, Wayne County to Benjamin John Baker and Samantha Lucinda Mangum Baker. She married Freeman Ellett on April 7, 1931 in Nephi. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple. He passed away Oct. 6, 2001. They are the parents of four daughters.
She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in the Primary for many years and was Relief Society President in her ward under four bishops. This was a special and memorable time in her life. She also served in the Relief Society Presidency during the short time they lived in Salt Lake City. Her greatest joy was her family. She was a great homemaker. We will all remember the pies she baked, the afghans she crocheted and her beautiful ceramic works of art. Through her many operations and afflictions she became a woman of great strength, developing patience and never losing her sense of humor. She loved keeping in touch with her many dear friends. She will be remembered for the positive influence she had on the lives of others. We will miss her and love her forever.
She is survived by her daughters and their husbands; Eva LaRae and Phillip Green of Salt Lake City, Freda and Kenneth Harris of Tooele, Arva Dean and Scott Squire of Orem and Carol and Bruce Hintze of Ivins, 22 grandchildren, 60 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandsons. In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by twin granddaughters, four brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services will be held April 30, at 11 a.m. in the East Carbon LDS Chapel where friends may call from 10 to 10:45 prior to services. Burial will follow in the Bicknell Cemetery at 4 p.m.
