CEU Cheer/yell/dance Takes Third in Us

An elated CEU cheer, yell and dance squad arrived in Price recently bringing home a third place trophy from the United Spirit Association’s National Championships held in Las Vegas, Nev. at the Cashman Center. CEUs Eagle dancers also competed in the national championship and placed fifth overall.
Over 100 two- and four-year colleges from throughout the United States competed in the two-day event along with several all-star teams. Almost 150 parents, friends and relatives followed CEUs two squads to the competition to cheer on the local teams. Utah collegiate squads competing include the University of Utah, Dixie State College, Snow College, Salt Lake Community College, Southern Utah State College and CEU. The University of Utah’s cheer squad placed seventh overall in the four-year division I category. The event’s categories included all-girl squads, all-girl stunt squads, partner stunting, mascot competition, elite coed stunt squads, dance squads and coed-partner stunting.
The song squad is coached by Kristen Jenkins Lowe, formerly of Emery County with David Larsen, Nick Rhoten and Jamele Jeffs, all graduates of Emery High School, on the CEU cheer squad.
The Eagle Dancers include Brook Wilberg and Sarah Harrison, Castle Dale; and Mandy Johnson, Huntington.
