The Utah Credit Union foundation known as “100 Percent for Kids” attended the Green River High School awards assembly on May 20 and presented a check for $5000 to Shellie Anderson, school librarian.
Stan Parsons, president of Green River Federal Credit Union, presented the check to the school. The funds will be used to purchase additional books for the library. The school should be able to purchase about 330 books, enough to average about three books per student at the school.
According to Anderson, the current library situation is “horrible.” “Although in some places 330 books may not be a lot, in this small rural school this will make a huge difference.”
The 100 Percent for Kids foundation is funded by private donations and contributions made by individual credit unions throughout the state. As the name implies, every donated cent will pass through the foundation’s organization and into Utah’s classrooms.
