Community Theater
For all community minded citizens of Emery County over the age of 18…If you are interested in becoming involved in community theater, the ECT will hold its first annual meeting for a Board of Trustees. This board will be responsible for electing the Board of Directors and having input in future productions. The annual dues will be due for each voting member. The meeting will be held in the Emery County Recreation Center in Castle Dale on June 19 at 7 p.m.
Bureau of Reclamation Open House

Grants for Families of Utah’s Guard and Reserves
A collaboration of Utah United Ways launched the Homefront Response last month to help Utah’s military families cope with the personal and financial burdens of U.S. war efforts. The first step is for military members and their families to identify the Homefromt agency partners in their area by visiting www.uw.org and clicking on “how to get help,” or by calling the 211 information hotline. Special Needs Children Swimming Program
Emery County Recreation will be holding registration for the special needs children swimming program on June 12 from 2-5 p.m. at the Recreation office located at 75 South 400 East, Castle Dale. The program will run from June 16-20 from 7-8 p.m. for children who are physically or mentally challenged. For more information call 381-2108.
The Circuit Riders
On June 8, The Circuit Riders will perform at the Castle Dale Rodeo Grounds. Entertainment will begin at 1:30 p.m. All are welcome to the afternoon of “Cowboy, Western and Gospel” music. In the style of Roy Rogers and the Sons of the Pioneers, the Circuit Riders performed in Denver until they moved to Cody, Wyo. in 1992. The Outlaw Trail
Butch Cassidy and the Outlaw Trail will premier on KUED, channel 7, June 18 at 9 p.m. It will re-air June 21 at 9 p.m. This documentary reveals important new information about the life of Butch and Sundance on their Argentina ranch and in South America.
Museum of the San Rafael Exhibit
“Key Ingredients: America by Food” an exhibit from the Smithsonian Art Institution Traveling Exhibition Service is opening at the Museum of the San Rafael May 30 and will be on exhibit until June 27. June 5, opening reception and program at 7 p.m. The Begay Family will host Native American Family and Food Traditions on June 17 at 7 p.m. Pioneer Traditions and Cowboy Tales will be June 24 at 7 p.m. All programs will feature a taster’s table. Each Friday at 10 a.m. there will be a pioneer story time at the Pioneer Museum for children ages 4-9.

Driver License Office
Due to a statewide budget shortfall we received instructions to close the Castle Dale office. This directive effects all satelite offices in the state. After July 1 service should resume in the Castle Dale area. The Price office, located at 940 South Carbon Avenue is open Mon.-Fri. Office hours are 8 a.m.-5 p.m. The office is open during lunch, and customers are requested to be in the office one hour before closing. For more information call 637-6180.
Car Show
The San Rafael Swell Auto Association will present their annual car show at Huntington State Park on June 14. Registration from 8-10 a.m. Show till 4 p.m. Admission is free to spectators.
Buckhorn Archers 3-D Shoot
Buckhorn Archers will host a 3-D shoot at Bear Creek Campground on June 7. First shoot at 10:30 a.m., second shoot at 1:30 p.m. There is a fee required. Registration will be 30 minutes prior to shoot times. For more information call Carl at 653-2417.

Fort Douglas Military Museum
The 96th Infantry Division and the Battle of Okinawa April – June 1945 is a new exhibit at the Fort Douglas Military Museum. The exhibit will have its grand opening June 14 at noon. Utahns Against Hunger
Utahns Against Hunger are encouraging home gardeners to support the annual Grow a Row. By growing an extra row of vegetables to donate to your local food pantry, home gardeners can help provide fresh nutritious produce to families experiencing economic difficulties and seeking help at their local food bank. The food bank in Emery County is located at 40 South Center in Castle Dale.
Relay for Life
The Relay for Life committee is looking for individuals and businesses who would like to participate in the annual fund raiser for cancer research on July 11-12. Miss Cleveland Pageant

National Safety Month
June is national safety month. This month’s activites are aimed at promoting preparedness and helping Americans prevent injuries on the roads and in homes, communities and workplaces. June 1-7 is driving safety week; June 8-14 is home and community safety week; June 15-21 is preparedness week; and June 22-30 is workplace safety week. Honoring Moms and Dads in the Navy Log
The US Navy Memorial Foundation is encouraging sons and daughters to enroll their parents, who served in the sea services, in the Navy Log. Bio-tech Academy for Teens
Scheduled for July 14-18 on the Utah State campus, the academy is open to high school students entering the 11th and 12th grades in the 2003-04 school year. Participants work side-by-side with faculty mentors on a variety of hands-on projects, stay in campus housing and eat in campus dining halls during the five-day camp. Students may select a specific area of interest, choosing from fields such as biology, chemistry, food and nutrition sciences, biological and envoiromental engineering, plant and soil science, and animal, dairy and veterinary sciences. Health Career Exploration Camp
The Utah AHEC program at Southern Utah University is looking for high school students interested in pursuing a health care career. The Emery Company and County Camps of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers are looking for young women that are eligible to compete in the Days of ’47 Queen Pageant. Support Group
Bringing hope to single moms support group and self-reliance class now being offered in Castle Dale. Open to the public free of charge. It will be held on Thursday evenings from 7-8 p.m. There will be on site child care available with prior notice.
