Wayne Wipf, from South Dakota brought new music to the audience.

On the evening of Sept. 2, country gospel singer Wayne Wipf performed a concert at the Emery County Recreation Building. The concert included a performance by Christian humorist, Mizz Molly Blue. Both performers are from Spearfish, S.D. and stopped in Castle Dale on a performance circuit.
Pastor Sam Wilbanks of the Castle Dale Independent Baptist Church and Pastor Carl Sitterud of Desert Edge Christian Chapel requested that the entertainers include Castle Dale on their tour. Pastor Wilbanks introduced Wipf and the gospel music began.
Wipf’s music had a definite cowboy flavor and the lyrics were all gospel. To the apparent delight of the crowd, Mizz Molly Blue related several personal stories that all present could relate with. When asked her age, Mizz Molly replied “I can remember when the Dead Sea was just sick.”
Wipf explained that his friends and other singers had written many of the songs he performed, but that many were old favorites. “Country gospel is not very popular in this part of the country, so the songs were probably all new to this audience,” said Wipf.
