Spardettes Sparkle at State

The Spardettes perform at halftime of basketball games as well as compete in a number of competitions throughout the year.

The Emery High Spardettes are winding down their season. They recently finished fifth in state with their novelty routine. They will perform for family and friends at the Spartan Center on March 2 at 7 p.m. in their annual Spring Show. The show will display a variety of routines and performances from throughout the year. The Spardettes practice all summer and begin their performances with the football season. They perform at all home games for boys and girls basketball games and wrestling meets. They also attend summer camps and drill team competitions throughout the school year.
Spardettes shining throughout the season were: All state nomineess: Sammy Jones and Carrie Bell.
All region team: Tresa Allred and Kaylynn Snow.
Region drill competition: first overall, Lehi; second overall, Delta; and third overall, Emery. Only the three overall in region go on to the state competition.
At state drill competition, the Spardettes took fifth place in the novelty division. In the 3A state competition, Jasha Hinkins was the State Champion in Drill Downs.
Team members competing at state were: Savanna Allred, Tresa Allred, Sammie Behling, Carrie Bell, Jasha Hinkins, Kristine Johansen, Karrie Johansen, Sammy Jones, Laurel Lemon, Kari Sharp, Whitney Snow, Brittany Stokes, Monique Stream and Kaylei Wareham.
The team is coached by Nadene Hinkins. Kaylynn Snow is the president; drill mistresses are Sammy Jones and Carrie Bell; reporters, Karrie and Kristine Johansen; and junior drill mistress is Savanna Allred.
