Shaun Bolton is missing.

A 14 year old boy has been missing since Feb. 19. He arrived at a foster home in Castle Dale on Feb. 12. He was registered into the San Rafael Junior High on Feb. 16 and attended school for two and one half days. It was determined that on the day of Feb. 19 he had not eaten lunch and was not in school after fourth period. A call came into the Emery County dispatch at 4:48 p.m. from the foster mother saying the boy had not arrived home from school.
The sheriff’s office put out an attempt to locate and notified state authorities and Carbon County to aid in the search. He was also registered with the missing and runaway childrens network.
On March 28, a book bag belonging to the boy was found on Ferron Mountain by mountain lion hunters. They reportedly gave the book bag to someone who works at the San Rafael Junior High.
On April 1, the person with the book bag reportedly called the foster mother informing her that they had a book bag belonging to the boy which had been found in a snowdrift on Ferron Mountain.
Det. Sgt. Robert Blackburn has been investigating the case, “We tracked down the people who found the book bag and gathered information on an exact location of where it was found. We conducted an extensive search of the area on Ferron Mountain on April 3. We found a lighter at the same place where the hunters had found the book bag, but nothing further. We don’t know if the lighter is related or not. The higher you get the more snow you run into up there and if the boy was walking in the area, he had to be following snowmobile tracks. From the San Rafael Junior High school to the location the backpack was found is 15.5 miles. The boy is from Provo and has a history of running away from foster homes. We will continue searching as weather and conditions permit. We are asking for the help of the public on locating this boy. As you travel in the Ferron Mountain area, be on the alert for anything suspicious and any articles of clothing or whatever. If you have any information in this case, please contact the Emery County Sheriff’s Office at 435-381-2404.”
The boy is listed as 14 year old Shaun Bolton. He is 5’3″ tall and 110 pounds. He has brown hair and a fair complexion.
