Bruce Steele
WELLINGTON – Bruce Edward Steele, age 54, passed away suddenly Aug. 2, 2004 at Castleview Hospital in Price.
Born June 22, 1950 in Rangley, Colo., to Vern and Viola Tooley Steele. Married Brenda Tremain, later divorced. Married Cheryl “Cher” Burns June 22, 1979 in Sandy. They were later married at Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church on Oct. 12, 1996.
Member of the Catholic Church where he was baptized at Notre Dame Church on March 29, 1997. Bruce loved to work in his yard, visit the mountains, take long drives, spend time with his sons and grandkids, family get togethers, making people laugh and his dog, Odie.
He was presently employed with Nielson Construction as a heavy equipment operator for the past three years. He will be dearly missed by his family and a community of friends.
“You know that you were the love of my life and my very best friend, and if God gave me the chance to do it all again I’d choose you again. I can say nothing more my love but Thank You.”
Survived by wife, Cheryl Steele, Wellington; four sons, Sean Taylor, Devin Taylor, Steven Bradley Burns, all of Salt Lake City; Todd Richard Steele, Wellington; mother, Viola Cameron, Idaho; granddaughter, Kamryn Steele, Wellington; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Kenneth R. (Beth) Burns, Salt Lake City; four sisters, Sharyon Harmon, Tami L. Sherwood, Laurie Wright and Tina Cotton.
A visitation will be held at Mitchell Funeral Home, 233 East Main Street in Price, Thurs., Aug. 5, 7-9 p.m. Vigil service, Friday evening, 8 p.m. at Neil O’Donnell and Sons Mortuary, 372 E. First South, Salt Lake City. Committal service, Saturday, Aug. 7, 10 a.m., Mt. Calvary Cemetery under the direction of Mitchell Funeral Home in Price.
Evelyn Branch Snow
Evelyn Branch Snow, 88, died peacefully on Aug.5, 2004, surrounded by family members at her home in Salt Lake City. She was born on May 11, 1916 in Wellington to Ray and Sylvia Shimmin Branch. She was the oldest of three children. She married A. Montie Snow in the Manti Temple on Oct. 26, 1940.
Evelyn was a devoted wife, loving mother and caring grandmother and great-grandmother. Evelyn was a graduate of Carbon High School where she participated in the band and marched at the Chicago World’s Fair. She was the accompanist for musical groups and many church and civic events.
She was a dedicated member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many positions throughout her lifetime. She received her Golden Gleaner award. She served an honorable mission in the Southern States Mission. She and her husband Montie served as ordinance workers in the Manti Temple for many years. She was a fabulous cook, creative decorator and expert organizer. Her love for good music was shared with her family and friends. Her family was the center of her universe.
She is survived by her eternal companion, Montie; her children, Diana Johansen, Salt Lake, Marcia (Ray O.) Madsen, Payallup, Wash., Arnie R. Snow, Henderson, Nev.; grandchildren, Scott P. Johansen, Jill (Jari) Bartschi, Sandra (Drake) Clarke, Christopher (April) Madsen, Ryan Madsen, Eric (Jennifer) Madsen, Nancy (Mark) Johnson, Andrew D. Madsen, Matthew T. Snow, Katie Snow, Cathie Snow and 10 great-grandchildren. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, brother Fay L. Branch, son-in-law Paul M. Johansen and granddaughter Sallie Snow.
Funeral services were held in the Price 4th Ward Chapel on Tues. Aug. 10. Visitation was held on the previous evening at Fausett Mortuary. Interment at the Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park in Salt Lake City.
The family expresses sincere and heartfelt appreciation to the members of the Price 4th Ward for their dedicated and devoted service in caring for our mother.
Stephen Cannistraci
EAST CARBON/MOAB – Stephen James Cannistraci, age 17, passed away at his father’s home in Moab on July 30, 2004.
He was born July 7, 1987 in St. George, to Stephen and Valerie Sparks Cannistraci.
Stephen loved his family and friends, and he especially enjoyed skateboarding, playing music, and camping with friends and family. He had a great love for wrestling and took first in region and fifth in state for three years. He was a very responsible young man who had his own job and was an exemplary scholar with a 4.0 grade point average. He was also a junior assistant from the Moab Scout Troop 16-16. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Survived and loved by his mother, Valerie R. (Eddie) Sanchez, East Carbon; father, Stephen (Tara ) Cannistraci, Moab; four brothers, Colten Christiansen, Brandon Cannistraci, William Sparks, and Sean Sanchez, all of East Carbon. Also survived by grandparents, Duane (LuJean) Hunt, Teasdale; second mother, Toni Polito; Sheena and Michelle Polito where like sisters to him; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and dear niece, Lizzie Thayn, Wellington.
Graveside service Fri., Aug. 6, 11 a.m., Valley View Cemetery, Sunnyside. Family will be at Mitchell Funeral Home in Price Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m.
Victor Jacquez
SALT LAKE CITY – Victor Basilio Jacquez, age 37, passed away Aug. 3, 2004 in a Salt Lake City Hospital while surrounded by his family.
Born Jan. 11, 1967 in Durango, Colo., to Johnny and Mollie V. Archuleta Jacquez.
Member of the Catholic Church. Victor enjoyed playing football, fishing, and he loved Indian art. He attended Notre Vista High School in Riverside, Calif. and later attended College of Eastern Utah heavy equipment program. Victor belonged to the Price Elks Boxing Club and played city league baseball for many years. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Memories never die but grow each day in our hearts to help us through the day. We will never forget you.
Survived by father, Johnny (Candy) Jacquez, Price; stepfather, Robert Valdez, Riverside, Calif.; loving girlfriend, Polly Hanway, Salt Lake City; brothers and sisters, Edward (Tina) Archuleta, Riverside, Calif.; Michelle (Bob) Moreno, Hesperia, Calif.; JoAnn (Willie) Naron, Temecula, Calif.; Monica Valdez, Riverside, Calif.; Kimberly (Bill) Sanchez, Moab; Gabriel (Jeanie) Jacquez, Clearfield; stepbrothers, Johnnie Martinez and Anthony Sanchez, both of Salt Lake City; grandparents, Alice Martinez, Ignacio, Colo.; Isidor (Rose) Jacquez, Price; and Andrea Valdez, Durango, Colo. Margaret Barton
GREEN RIVER/GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – Margaret Earle Loftis Barton died Aug. 2, 2004 in Grand Junction, Colo. following a series of hospital stays after her heart surgery in 1997.
She was born July 13, 1925 in Greenville, S.C. She married R.C. (Bud) Barton in 1944.
She is survived by husband, Bud, currently living in Green River; daughters, Patricia Barton-Gassman (Gregg), Mary Barton-Palmer (Gail); son, Daniel Barton (Patti); and eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by daughters, Jo Carolyn and Nancy Earle Barton Holmes. Goodnight sweetheart, how we miss you.
Helen Carroll
PRICE/LACEY, Wash. – Helen Norene Long Carroll, age 72, resident of Lacey and Chahalis, Wash., passed away July 1, 2004 at her home surrounded by family. Norene fought a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born Sept. 2, 1931 to Annabell and Duane Long at Castle Gate. She married Elwood Carroll. He preceded her in death.
Norene attended schools in Carbon County. Graduate of Hennegar’s Business College. Norene was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She worked in the Washington LDS Temple for many years.
Survived by daughter, Marsha of Lacy, Wash.; son, Bruce of Longview, Wash.; two granddaughters, Jamie and Jessica; great-grandson; three sisters, Lois Paetsch of Salt Lake City; Rae Dell Pearson of Cleveland; and Marvel Nelson of Helper.Graveside services were July 7 in Chahalis, Wash.
