Letter to the Editor: Appreciates Castle Dale

By KAREN HUNTSMAN Castle Dale

Dear Editor,
As a citizen of Castle Dale, I want to say how much I appreciate the many things that the Castle Dale City Council has been doing to make this a great place to live.
We can always find something to complain about and seem to find the time and energy to do so but so often we don’t take the opportunity to tell those responsible how much they are appreciated for doing the things that make our live better and more enjoyable. Everything can’t be done at once and everyone can’t be pleased all of the time but by doing a little at a time we can make great strides in accomplishing goals that have been set that will make this a wonderful town to live in.
Some of the things that have been done to make our city better are the sidewalks and streets, new street signs, our new playground equipment at the park, which has been needed for a long time, also the trees and flowers at the cemetery and the planters full of flowers around the city.
I am sure that we have one of the best rodeo grounds around, thanks to all that have helped with it. We have nice ball fields and soccer fields. We also have a swimming pool for our youth to enjoy.
I hope that everyone looks forward to the yearly calendar as much as I do, to look at the old pictures and remember the good old days.
We had a great circus this summer. It was a good clean circus and was enjoyed by all that attended.
What greater fun for the family than to take a ride around town during the Christmas season, to see all of the lights and to enjoy the beautiful Christmas lights that our city has for us.
We must also note the youth city council along with the city council and all of the volunteers for their help in putting on the June City Days and our fun Christmas Party at the park with the chili, hot chocolate, hay rides and just good old fashioned visiting around the barrels of fire along with a visit from Santa for both young and old alike.
This year a new tradition was started and that was our fun Halloween party with pumpkin carving, a costume contest, delicious stew, home made rolls and pumpkin pie. This was a lot of fun.
I hear that the city is going all out to have us improve our yards and get rid of the old junk cars around town. What a great thing to do to make or city more beautiful and a place for us to be proud of. Each of us should take pride in our yards and surrounding areas and clean them up without being reminded. Everyone who already does is appreciated.
All of this creates community spirit. For all of those that haven’t attended any of our city functions, plan to do so. If we don’t come, we miss out on a lot of old time community socializing. If we don’t participate, we shouldn’t complain. Let’s accentuate the positive and eliminate the negative.
The city Christmas party is coming up, hope to see you there.
