Edward Badda
PRICE-Edward Charles Badda, age 71, passed away Nov. 17, 2004 at home while surrounded by his loving family from natural causes. Born Aug. 30, 1933 in Everett, Wash. to Charles Edward and Lavon Crans Badda. Married Marty McCollum, later divorced. Married to Gaye Dunn for 25 years, she passed away in 1996. Then married Syrena Styff in 1998.
Edward worked as a boiler maker and construction worker for the power plants He was a member of the Salt Lake Boiler Maker Union. Served in the merchant marines and was a member of the Elks club in Washington State. He loved to dance, go bowling and fishing with his family. He had a fascination for prospecting gold and flying airplanes, and later became a small engine pilot.
Preceded in death by parents; loving wife Gaye Dunn Badda; sisters, Doris and Catherine.
Survived by wife, Syrena, Price; children, Cherisse (Brian) Thomas, California; Mark Anvik, Oregon; Carl Anvik, Helper; Ralph (Susan) Anvik, Wellington; Trent (Janna) Badda, Ogden; grandchildren, Nico, Lindsey, Nic, Wade, Andrew and Elizabeth; brother, Richard Badda.
Funeral service Sat. Nov. 20, 2004, 11 a.m. at Mitchell Funeral Home. Interment, Price City Cemetery. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Rick, Melissa and the staff of Rocky Mountain Hospice; John and Nancy at Praxair; Bobby Etzel and the staff of Mitchell Funeral Home.
Glen L. James
HELPER-Glen LeRoy James, age 84, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle, passed away Nov. 15, 2004 following seven and a half years of dialysis. He was born June 25, 1920 in Helper to Frank James, Sr. and Elizabeth Leona Seeley. Married Leah Phyllis Nielsen, Oct. 25, 1947 in Spring Canyon; and their marriage was later sealed in the Manti Temple. They recently celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary.
He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He proudly served his country in World War II European Theater in the 725 Railway Operating Battalion Company C. He was especially proud of his grandsons in uniform. Glen retired from Denver and Rio Grande Western Railroad after 43 years of dedicated service.
Survived by his loving and devoted wife, Leah James, Helper; six daughters, Cathy (Randy) Lamph, Helper; Peggy (Garn) Pollock, Bountiful; Paula (David) Mortensen, Provo; Jamie (Scott) Preston, Spring Glen; Lisa (Jan) Wilde, Price; Glena (Ralph) Vose, Helper; brother Earl James, sister Rhea Parry, both of Helper; sister, Donna Chiaretta, Price; 19 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and one adopted grandson. Preceded in death by his parents, brothers Frank Jr. and Donald: great-grandson Baily Mortensen.
Funeral services were Nov. 19, 2004 in the Helper Stake Center. Interment, Mt. View Cemetery. The family would like to thank the Castleview Dialysis Unit for their loving and expert care, and Utah Valley Hospital CCU Unit for the special care of Dad and us.
Steven J. “Pops” Nelson
1949-2004
Steven J. Nelson, age 55, passed away peacefully on Nov. 18, 2004 after a courageous lifelong battle with Fabry disease. Steven was born on Feb. 27, 1949 in Price to Gladys Irene Stevenson and Lyle J. Nelson. He served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. Married his sweetheart and eternal companion, Candace Lynn Holman on Aug. 19, 1972 in Klamath Falls, Ore. and were late sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt lake Temple on Aug. 18, 1978. Family was everything to this gentle man whose favorite time was spent with his devoted wife and four beautiful daughters, who loved and spoiled their father. He blessed us with his strength, wisdom and humor. “Papa” Nelson was greatly loved by his six grandchildren and will be fondly remembered by those whose lives he touched.
Steven is survived by his loving wife, Candy, West Valley City, daughters, Tami and Steven Lence, West Jordan, Michelle and James Fowler, West Valley City, Heather and Aaron Flater, West Valley City, and Christy and Nathan Flater, Herriman; six wonderful grandchildren; father Lyle J. Nelson, Elmo, brothers, Robert (Beverly) Nelson, Price and Randy (Tonya) Nelson, Elmo; and many wonderful nieces and nephews. Steven was preceded in death by his mother Gladys Irene Nelson, and brother, Roger Alan Nelson.
Funeral services were held on Nov. 22, 2004 at 11 a.m. in the Copperhill sixth ward building, 4150 South 6000 West. In lieu of flowers and gifts, our family suggests donations to the Fabry Support Information Group (FSIG) in Steven’s name. Donations can be sent to P.O. Box 510, Concordia, MO 64020.
