Camp Dale Meeting

Ten Free Trees

Health Care Hotline


The Deseret News/IHC Health Hotline will host a hotline on Jan. 8 from 10 a.m.-noon to answer questions concerning how to obtain health care coverage. Callers can dial the toll free hotline at 1-800-925-8177. Callers do not need to identify themselves and all calls are strictly confidential.

Tsunami Relief Fund


U.S. Bank has established a Tsunami Relief Fund for people who want to contribute to relief efforts in the aftermath of the devasting and deadly disaster is South Asia. Contributions can be mae at any of U.S. 2,346 locations or online at usbank.com.

Free Wheelchairs to the Disabled


The Wheelchair Foundation, Intermountain Healthcare, and the George S. and Dolores Dore Eccles Foundation are partnering to distribute free wheelchairs to disabled Utahns. Persons interested in getting a free wheelchair can call 1-877-387-3839, or apply at www.wheelchairfoundation.org/utah.

Photographic Competition


The Eccles Community Art Center in Ogden is calling for entries for its 14th statewide photographic competition. The competition is open to all photographers who presently reside in the state of Utah. All print must be original, completed within the last two years, and not have been previously exhibited in a juried exhibit sponsored by the Eccles Community Art Center. Orangeville Animal Licenses


Orangeville animal licenses for 2005 are due by Feb. 28. Rabies clinics will be held at the Orangeville Fire Station on Jan. 8 and Feb. 19 from 9 a.m.-noon.

Pet Vaccination Clinic

Buckhorn Scouts


During all of 2005, Cub Scouting will celebrate its 75th Anniversary. The Boy Scouts of America organized Cub Scouting for younger boys in 1930. The Buckhorn District will celebrate with a special banquet to honor present

Defensive Driving Class


A 4-hour defensive driving class will be held on Jan. 15, 2005 at the Castleview Hospital classroom, 300 North Hospital Drive, Price. Drivers may complete the course for a 50 point reduction from their Utah driving record. Seniors, over 55 years of age, may qualify for insurance discounts after completing the course. Buckhorn Archery


Buckhorn Archery will begin soon. Get your bows ready. Open shoot on Wednesday’s from 4-8 p.m. beginning Jan. 5 at the Emery County Recreation Center, 75 South 400 East in Castle Dale. VFW


A field service officer from the Veterans of Foreign Wars will be in the area to assist in understanding and applying for rightful VA benefits on Jan. 6 from 8:30-10:30 a.m. at the Price Workforce Service Center.

Cleveland Fire Department Benefit


The Cleveland fire department will host a benefit for Gerald “Fats” Schade, who recently underwent surgery and is without medical insurance. The raffle will be held Jan. 19 and tickets are available at Country Corner in Cleveland, BK’s and Castle Service in Huntington. Tickets are also available from any member of the Cleveland Fire Department.

Flu Shots Available


The Southeastern Utah District Health Department in Castle Dale now has influenza vaccine available for the general public. Clinic hours are Monday-Friday from 3:30-4:30 p.m. and Monday from 8:30-11:30 a.m.

Tom’s Trail Information


There is a road onto East Mountain near the Des-Bee-Dove mine. It is called Tom’s Trail. It is not the road above the mine, but a trail east of the mine. There is little known of this trail and I am looking for anyone with any part of the history of Tom’s Trail. If anyone has any information about the trail, such as who built it, who it was named for, or any other part of the history of this trail, contact Mark H Williams at 435-381-2493.

CASA Volunteers Needed


Each year hundreds of children in Emery and Carbon counties become wards of the juvenile court system due to child abuse, neglect or abandonment. The child welfare system can only devote so much time and attention to each individual case and, consequently, to each individual child. CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) Volunteers are ordinary men and women who find it in their hearts and their schedules to help these abused and neglected children. Utah Valley Cancer Center, located at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center has a new toll-free phone number. Anyone can call 1-866-549-3800 to schedule an appointment, get information about local cancer support groups or to find out more about IHC cancer services and physicians. Hours are 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

Eyeglasses for Lions Club


The Huntington Lions Club is gathering used eyeglasses to be distributed to needy people in Third World countries. There is a special need for childrens glasses. For more information, contact Judy Lang at 687-5349.
