The new ALCO store was recognized as the new business of the year. Scott Wheeler, store manager, was on hand to accept the award. He said the Duckwall/ALCO store has been around since 1900 and Walmart has patterned their store after ALCO.
Wheeler said it is the strategy of ALCO to go into areas where the population is less than 5,000 people.
They go where they are needed and become an important part of the community. They opened their doors in Castle Dale in April of 2004.
They appreciate the warm welcome they received and the reception of the new store.
ALCO features food items, clothing, housewares, automotive, beauty, hardware, electronics, shoes, craft supplies, toys, furniture and seasonal items for the customers of the county.
ALCO is open each day from 9 a.m.-8 p.m. and Sundays from 1-5 p.m.
