Virgil Dale Keele, Sr.
CARBONVILLE/HELPER-Virgil Dale Keele, Sr., age 73, passed away Sun,, Feb. 20, 2005, at his home in Carbonville. He was born July 23, 1931, in Duchesne, to Fred Manning and Pearl Valantine Peterson Keele. Married Lillian Marie Holmes on June 24, 1949, in Belair, Md.
Virgil was a member of the LDS Church. He served in the US Army and held the rank of staff sergeant. He enjoyed camping, traveling and reading westerns.
Survived by his wife Marie of Carbonville, eight children, Virgil and Chris, Kurtis and Al, Sam and Patty, Larry and Sandy, Nadine and John, Vernon and Lisa, Jody and Jerry, and Deloy; 35 grandchildren and 52 great-grandchildren. Also survived by brothers and sisters Beth and Ray Prettyman, Reba Keele, Fred and Leslie Keele, Rick and Kate Keele, and Vickie Keele.
Preceded in death by his parents, daughter Mary, brothers Vernon and Lee and great-grandsons Brandon and Steven.
Funeral services will be held Thurs., Feb. 24 at 11 a.m. at the Westwood Ward LDS Chapel, 175 North 1280 West, Price. A viewing will be Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Fausett Mortuary and also one hour prior to the services at the church. Burial will be at the Price City Cemetery.
Allen Vose Mower
Allen Vose Mower, 73, passed away peacefully at his home in Orangeville on Feb. 20, 2005. He was born Dec. 28, 1931 to Wilmer V. and Bertha Rogers Mower in Mount Emmens, Utah. He married Marylyn Cahoon Jan. 16, 1956 in Elko, Nev.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother. He was a member of the Local 57 Pipefitters Union for 40 years, and owned and operated the Pawn Shop in Castle Dale for 16 years. He was a very talented artist. There wasn’t anything he couldn’t do and everything he did do, he did well.
Allen is survived by the love of his life, Marylyn , four sons: Ron and Sandy Mower of Boise, Idaho; David and Susie Mower of Pahrump, Nev.; Jerry and Hazel Moon of Harbor, Ore.; and Joe Mower of Ferron; 16 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Also survived by brother Dennis Mower and sister Delores Ferraro. He will be deeply missed by all. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Phillip Cox and a granddaughter Season Schramm.
Memorial services will be held Thurs., Feb. 24, 2005 at 1 p.m. at Fausett Mortuary in Castle Dale where friends may call one hour prior to services. Burial will be in the Orangeville Cemetery.

SALT LAKE CITY/SUNNYSIDE-Bernie Julius Record, age 66, passed away Feb. 17, 2005. Born May 2, 1938 in Salt Lake City to Julius Clifford and Gladys Marie Potts Record. Married Karen Lee Crosley, May 22, 1962 in Salt Lake City. Member of the LDS Church.
Bernie loved to fish, hunt and go camping with family and friends.
Survived by his wife Karen; three sons and one daughter, Clifford (Charlotte); Mary; Clinton (Bridgett); Randy (Lindsay): eight grandchildren, Arron, Andy, Joel, Shelby, McKenzie, Taylor, Chandler, Bryton; brothers, Don (Barbara) Record; Jim (Blanche) Record; twin sister, Betty (Chuck) Tobin; sister, Linda (Mike) Watson; lots of friends and family; lifelong friend Oscar Olsen.
Funeral service Wed. Feb. 23, 2005, 2 p.m., Mountain View Mortuary, 3115 East Bengal Blvd. (7800 South). Family will be at Mitchell Funeral Home, 233 East Main Street in Price, Tues. from 5-7 p.m. and at the mortuary in Salt Lake, Wednesday one hour prior to services. Interment, Mt. View Memorial Estates.
Harriet Bishop
ORANGEVILLE-Harriet Ruth Brandon Bishop, age 64, passed away peacefully on Feb, 15, 2004 at Castleview Hospital. She was born March 2, 1940 in Van Nuys, Calif., to John Clyde and Roberta Woodward Brandon. She married Joseph Edward Bishop April 10, 1971 in Las Vegas, Nev. In 1973, they adopted Mark Joseph Bishop and were sealed as a family in the Los Angeles Temple later that year.
Harriet was raised in Southern California. After graduating from high school, she worked as a nursery school teacher. She lived in Bishop, Calif., and later moved to Orangeville. When her son Mark entered the sixth grade, she took a job as a custodian with the Emery County School District in order to buy him a trombone. Later, because of her love of music and singing talent, she was hired as the first music specialist in the district. For the past several years she has been writing a column for the Emery County Progress.
Harriet was an accomplished musician, a wonderful storyteller, and a dedicated family historian. She enjoyed painting and spending time at her family’s cabin in Joe’s Valley. Harriet had her father’s talent of solving everyday problems with what was at hand. She was fiercely independent but accepted and deeply appreciated all the day-to-day assistance given by her friends and neighbors.
Harriet loved her family dearly and took great pride in her grandchildren and especially her son. She was an active member of the LDS Church and had many callings.
Harriet is survived by her son Mark (Angela) Bishop, and her grandchildren, Rebecca, Emily and John Bishop. Also survived by her sisters, Annette Brandon and Colleen (Dick) Wilson and a brother Jay C. Brandon. Preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services were held Sat. Feb. 19, 2005 at noon in the Orangeville Third Ward Chapel. Interment was in the Orangeville Cemetery under the direction of Fausett Mortuary.
The family wishes to thank the Orangeville Third Ward, the staff at Castleview Hospital, and the staff from Rocky Mountain Health Care, Dr. Ronald Sanders, and all the many friends who helped her remain in the home and town that she loved.
Verl Warner Huff
HELPER-Verl Warner Huff, age 84, passed away Feb. 17, 2005 at home, surrounded by his family. He was born Jan. 19, 1921 in Spanish Fork to Charles E. and Annie Warner Huff. He married Betty Christensen March, 21, 1941 in Huntington.
Verl worked hard with his hands, mining coal and building automobiles. He loved to fish with the flies he tied himself. Most of all he enjoyed being with and caring for his family, by whom he will be deeply missed. He was a member of the LDS Church and the UMWA.
Verl is survived by his loving wife Betty and three children: Connie Case of Helper, Verlyn and Dan Kelley of Price, and Ron Huff of Spring Glen; 11 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren. Also survived by sister Loa Ann Krompel and two brothers, Bert Huff and Udel Huff. Preceded in death by a daughter Sherry Renae, one son Warren Todd, two brothers and one sister.
Graveside service will be held Tues. Feb. 22, 2005 at 11 a.m. in the Price City Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday morning from 9:30-10:39 a.m. at Fausett Mortuary in Price. The mortuary was open from 9a.m.-9 p.m. on Monday for those who wished to sign the register.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to any of the local Hospice providers to help those who may not be able to pay for their wonderful service or to the American Cancer Society.
Bob Marshall
HELPER-Robert John Marshall, age 74, passed away Feb. 15, 2005 at Castleview Hospital. Born Sept. 14, 1930 in Heiner to James Brooks and Ila Hampson Marshall. Married Peggy Shalene Haycock, July 3, 1950 in Carbonville.
Longtime resident of Carbon County, where he served as the union president of the Price River Coal preparation plant UMWA Local 1681.
Honorably served in the U.S. Army and the National Guard.
He enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing and hunting. Bob’s greatest love was spending time with his grandkids, great-grandkids and giving everyone special nicknames.
Survived by wife Peggy Marshall, Helper; sons, Jay (Sue) Marshall, Terry (Marla) Marshall, both of Price; daughters, Tonya (Scott) Turner, Helper; Cookie Martinez, Salt Lake City; Billie Jean Marshall, Provo; sister Leila Boucher, Washington; 21 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; and his dog, Fluffy. Preceded in death by parents; brothers, James, Joe, Jerry, and Jack Marshall; and sisters, Ruth and Evelyn.
Funeral service was held Sat. Feb. 19 at 11 a.m. at Mitchell Funeral Home. Family was at Mitchell’s on Friday from 6-7 p.m. and Saturday one hour prior to services. Interment, Mountain View Cemetery, Helper.
Tom Seely
PRICE- Our loving husband, father, and grandfather, Thomas Curtis Seely, age 62, passed away Feb. 20, 2005 at Castleview Hospital in Price.
He was born Dec. 9, 1942 in Mt. Pleasant to Lee and Florence A. Mower Seely. He married Carol Lee Koskie on Jan. 19, 1963 in Dragerton. He was an active member of the LDS Church where he was a cub scout leader for many years. He graduated from East Carbon High School. Tom served in the Utah National Guard. Tom worked in various coal mines in the area prior to retiring in 2002. Past Captain and member of the Carbon County Sheriff’s Posse. He loved the outdoors and fishing. Tom had a special love for animals, especially his horses. He was loved by everyone and will be missed by his family and friends.
Survived by his wife, Carol Seely; daughter, Debra June Davis; grandkids, Krystle Marie Noyes, Josh Davis, all of Price; brother, Stewart (Carolyn) Seely, Payson; sisters Ada Lee Hansen, Nephi; Ann (Karl) Kent, Victorville, Calif; numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends. Preceded in death by parents, and daughter, Jacqueline “Jackie” Seely.
Funeral Service, Wed. Feb. 23, 2005 at 11 a.m. in the Price Seventh LDS Ward. Family will be at Mitchell Funeral Home, Tuedsay from 7-8:30 p.m. and at the church Wednesday one hour prior to service. Interment, Cliffview Cemetery, Price.
