My name is Cali Johnson. I live in Castle Dale. I am a hair donor who donated my hair to Locks of Love for my neighbor Connie Witthuhn. Connie has been my neighbor for as long as I can remember. When she was diagnosed with cancer, I was heartbroken. I didn’t know how to react or how to help her. I looked around for any ideas and I soon learned about Locks of Love.
I then went to Connie after she got home from the hospital and asked her what I could do for her. Connie loved to comb through my hair and asked me if I could grow my hair out and donate it. Even though she didn’t end up needing my hair, she still wanted me to have something for her to look forward to.
I told her that I would and I would be more than happy to. I was tremendously excited. It seemed like it took forever to grow my hair long enough to donate. I would measure my hair every month. In the long run I knew what it meant to people and how easy it was to give my hair away for someone who couldn’t grow their own or had lost theirs.
I would do it again. I do miss my long hair. I am glad to see Connie fighting and beating cancer. I am happy that I could help in some way. My love goes out to Connie, she has been an inspiration to me.
