Dear Editor,
I want to commend Elmo for putting solar panel energy source into their plans for their new firestation and community center. I have seen this used in large complexes in New Mexico and know it has been used in large office buildings in Europe for some years. I know it is used successfully in other places also, but these are the ones that I recall most specifically. Would that more people in large and small buildings would use solar power.
Several years ago, they were already manufacturing photovoltaic cells that actually were usable as roofing. Manufacturers were experimenting with solar cells as siding for buildings outer walls. By now, no doubt, there have been advances in these materials.
