Letter to the Editor: Teams cannot win on talent alone

By DOUGLAS RICHARDS Green River

Dear Editor,
This is in response to a student of the week profile featured on March 29 in the Progress. A comment about the coaches at Green River High is a deliberate slap in the face to the coaches, not to mention the teachers and students.
If it had not been for their coaching ability Green River High athletic teams in the past would not have won so many state championships.
These same coaches coach today. Teams cannot win on talent alone; a team needs someone to guide it, as was evidenced by this year’s basketball team.
The basketball coaches have at least 40 years of coaching experience between them. If someone feels they can do better, I encourage them to go get their coaching certificates.
Let us see how well you do. I am looking forward to it.
The time, effort, and the desire to help kids is not worth the money they get from coaching, it is worth much more.
