Mandi Weihing gets back to first base.

Jerica Jensen pitched her best game of the season in leading Emery past Delta in Region 8 softball last week. Emery won the game 7-2 as Jensen only allowed two infield singles in her complete game victory.
In addition, Jensen had two singles in the game and scored two runs in the win as she helped her cause.
Emery took the early lead as Mandi Weihing got on base after a bunt single, was sacrificed to second base by Haylie Hansen, stole third base and scored on a grounder to third base by Adrian McNee.
Emery scored two more runs in the third inning as Weihing again bunted her way aboard, Misha Addley got on and both scored on a single by Eve Guymon.
After Delta scored two runs in their half of the fourth inning to cut Emery’s lead, Jensen singled and later scored on a single by Hansen. Emery now led 4-2.
In the fifth inning, Guymon, Brandee Wilson and Jensen all scored after they had all singled to get on base. Carly Anderson, Whitney Erickson and Weihing had loaded the bases when Hansen hit a line drive to the pitcher, who then completed a double play as she threw to first base.
Emery scored seven runs while picking up 11 hits. Most importantly, Emery committed no errors in the game. Emery is now 2-2 in region play.
After the game Coach Alton talked to his players, “Great job ladies. You all have got to feel good about what you did today.” He then encouraged them to “get ready to beat Carbon again.” That game is Thursday in Price.
