Dear Editor,
“The War Powers Act” was passed on Dec. 8, 1941, the day after Pearl Harbor, as an emergency. It was partly repealed in 1948. Congress gave up their power that was also abused against the Japanese American citizens during World War II. It allows the administration branch of government to go to war anywhere in the world. It also allows the administration branch of government, the secretary of commerce, to control foreign businesses, oil and American businesses to go over seas for cheaper labor. The US Constitution states clearly “only Congress has the power to declare war.”
Let us stop making liars out of our presidents by repealing this act and living by Constitutional law, or we will have no jobs left in America.
