Ken Larson has been transferred to the Palm Springs, Calif. operation after four years in Castle Valley.

Open house scheduled on Oct. 6 for former publisher
On Sept. 17, Brehm Communications announced that Ken Larson, who has been the publisher of the Sun Advocate and Emery County Progress for the last four years, will move to a similar position with the company in Palm Springs, Calif.
“Ken has done a very good job for our company in this area and now he is moving on to help us with some other publications we have in southern California,” stated company president Bill Brehm Jr. during the local newspapers’ employee appreciation party.
Larson has served as the local publisher since November 2001 when he was moved from a general manager’s position in newspapers owned by the company in Bullhead City, Ariz.
Larson has been splitting his time between Utah and California since April, working with The Entertainer, a magazine the company owns in Palm Springs and managing operations for a small newspaper for retirees in the same area.
A new publisher for the Sun Advocate and the Emery County Progress has not been named at this time, but Richard Shaw, who is the general manager of the Carbon and Emery County newspapers, will perform the duties until a replacement is selected.
Larson has been active in many civic organizations, including the Carbon County Chamber of Commerce and the Kiwanis Club.
Larson is scheduled to make his last official visit to the Castle Valley area in early October.
On Oct. 6, an open house will be presented in Larson’s honor starting at 3 p.m. at the Sun Advocate offices, located at 845 East Main in Price.
Brehm Communications is a family owned company headquartered in San Diego, Calif. The company operates more than 50 newspapers and magazines at locations spread across a large geographic area from Indiana to the West Coast.
