Castle Dale Stake Pow Wow

Ferron Rabies Clinic
Ferron City rabies clinics will be held: Jan. 19 at the city shop, 25 East Molen Road, 4-6 p.m. with Dr. Utley; and Jan. 28 at the city shop, 25 East Molen Road from 10 a.m.-noon with Dr. Jensen. Dog licenses are due Jan. 31. Licenses will be issued at the clinics.
Buckhorn Archery League
Buckhorn Archery League registration will be held Jan. 4. Bring your bow and shoot a warm-up round. Actual shoots will begin on Jan. 11, and will be held every Wednesday from 4:30-8 P.M. at the Emery County Recreation Center in Castle Dale. Retired Coal Miners
A senior English class at Emery High school has been asked to conduct interviews with miners and county residents who have knowledge of the mining industry from about 1900 to 1950. These interviews and stories will be published by the WAAIME to preserve the history and heritage of Emery County and the mining industry. BLM public meeting
As part of its ongoing efforts to increase domestic energy production and ensure greater energy security, the BLM has initiated a programmatic Environmental Impact Statement to support a commercial oil shale and tar sands leasing program on federal lands. A series of public scoping meetings will be held from 1-4 p.m. and 7-10 p.m. on Jan. 11, 2006 at the Holiday Inn, 838 Westwood Boulevard in Price.
New Immunizations Hours
Beginning Jan. 1, Southeastern Utah District Health Department office in Price, will have new immunization hours. They will be given Monday-Thursday from 3-4:30 p.m. and Friday mornings from 9:30-11:30 a.m. This is at the Price office only. There will no longer be a Thursday morning or Friday afternoon immunization clinic offered.
Habitat for Humanity
Habitat for Humanity of Castle Country is building a fully wheelchair accessible house in Castle Dale and can use your help. Quilts of Valor
Quilts of Valor, a program that provides quilts to each injured serviceman or woman, is being organized in Emery County. This program needs funds and interested people to help with making the quilts. The number is 381-2888, and all callers will remain anonymous. It is very important for citizens to be actively involved in helping remove drugs users and pushers from Emery County.
AWANA Club

Project ChildSafe
Project ChildSafe, sponsored by the National Shooting Sports Foundation will be distributing free gun locks throughout Emery County. Members of the community may call their local law enforcement agency for information on how to obtain a free gun lock.
New Emery County Archives Hours
Emery County Archives now has new hours. The new hours are noon-5 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. The Archives is now under the supervision of the Emery County Recorder and a message may be left at that office at 381-2414.

CASA Volunteers Needed
Each year hundreds of children in Emery and Carbon counties become wards of the juvenile court system due to child abuse, neglect or abandonment. The child welfare system can only devote so much time and attention to each individual case and, consequently, to each individual child. CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) Volunteers are ordinary men and women who find it in their hearts and their schedules to help these abused and neglected children. Angels Have Wheels
All Medicare recipients should now be aware that if they suffer from conditions such as arthritis, cardiovascular disease, and respiratory disorders, and have difficulty walking or propelling a standard wheelchair, they maybe eligible to receive an electric wheelchair paid for by Medicare. Utah Valley Cancer Center, located at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center has a new toll-free phone number. Anyone can call 1-866-549-3800 to schedule an appointment, get information about local cancer support groups or to find out more about IHC cancer services and physicians. Hours are 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
