EHS Cheerleading Tryouts


Emery High School cheerleading tryouts will be held in the EHS Old Gym on March 13. Learn dance from 6-7 p.m. On March 20-check-in: 3:30-4 p.m.; learn cheer-4-5:30 p.m.; break-5:30- 5:45 p.m.; judging-6 p.m. sharp. Parents of the participants only, are welcome to come and watch tryouts. The doors will be open at 5:45 p.m. Requirements-bring a cheer, no jewelry, no gum, hair should be secured up and back. Pre registration is required. Parent release forms are available at Emery High, Canyon View, and San Rafael schools office. The deadline for applications will be on March 13 at 6 p,m. Emery Cheerleading Spring Show


The Emery Cheerleading Spring Show will be held March 7 in Spartan Center at 7 p.m. There is an admission charge.

Local Veterans Employment Representative


A local veterans employment representative visits the Castle Dale DWS Office the first Wednesday of each month. Appointments can also be arranged on other days by contacting Steve Wilkinson (LVER) at (435) 636-2343. The LVER is also available Monday through Friday at Department of Workforce Services, 475 West Price River Drive, for questions about VA benefits, assistance with VA applications, employment assistance and other veterans issues.

BLM Seeks Nominatioins for Utah’s RAC


Utah residents interested in the management and conservation of public lands have an opportunity to become directly involved through participation on the BLM Utah RAC. Council members rpovide advice and recommendations to the BLM concerning the use and management of 22 million acres of public land in Utah. Nominations are being accepted for five positions on the RAC. Those positions are: one commodity; three non-commodity; and one local area interest. Defensive Driving Course


The Utah Safety Council is offering a four hour defensive driving course for individuals in the Price area. Miss Emery Seeks Contestants


The Miss Emery Pageant will be held on July 15 at 7 p.m. The pageant committee is seeking those girls who would like to participate in the pageant. You can be a junior in high school through 24 years of age. Contestants will participate in swimwear, talent, evening gown and onstage question. Emery County Gun Club


Emery County Gun Club’s February shoot is Feb. 28. All shoots begin at 1 p.m. Night shoots will be held on Thursday or Friday evening at 6:30 p.m. Contact Jason at 384-3279, Jeremy at 381-2057 or Eric at 749-0432 to let them know a preference for the night. Also, anyone interested in starting a shooting league should let them know.

ACT Assessment Testing


Nationwide ACT testing will be held on April 8, registration deadline is March 3. The cost is $29 without and $43 with the writing test and additional $18 fee is required for late registration. Students can receive information from their high school guidance counselors or at www.actstudent.org.

Craft and Merchandise Vendors Wanted


Vendors wanted for the Emery County Fair to be held Aug. 3-5. Large crowds expected, security will be provided 24 hours a day, so daily load out is not required. Food Vendors Wanted


Vendors wanted for the Emery County Fair to be held Aug. 3-5. Looking for exclusive food concession vendors. Each vendor may apply to have two exclusive entree food items for their booth. That vendor will be the sole supplier of those two food items. Drinks, candy, etc. will be available to all vendors. Huntington Dog Licenses


The Huntington City 2006 dog licenses are now due. Proof of current rabies vaccination must be presented before license can be issued. Deadline for dog licenses is March 1. Dog licenses may be purchased at the Huntington City Hall.

Veterans of Foreign Wars


A field service officer from the Veterans of Foreign Wars will be at the Price Workforce Service Center on March 2 from 8:30-10:30 a.m. This is a free service to assist veterans, widows and dependents in understanding and applying for rightful VA benefits.

Ferron Stake Merit Badge Pow Wow

Ten Star All Star Basketball Camp

Science and Engineering Fair


The Utah Science Center and the University of Utah are seeking entries for the 2006 Salt Lake Valley Science and Engineering Fair from 5-12 grade students and also adults to serve as judges and in other volunteer positions. Castle Country King Crawlers


Castle Country King Crawlers (CCKC) is your local 4×4 club for Carbon and Emery counties. We hold competitions and monthly trail rides. Tip Line for Drug Violations


A tip line has been introduced in Emery County. The Emery County drug task force is requesting help from the residents to report any suspicious drug activity. The number is 381-2888, and all callers will remain anonymous. It is very important for citizens to be actively involved in helping remove drugs users and pushers from Emery County. AWANA Club

CASA Volunteers Needed


Each year hundreds of children in Emery and Carbon counties become wards of the juvenile court system due to child abuse, neglect or abandonment. The child welfare system can only devote so much time and attention to each individual case and, consequently, to each individual child. CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) Volunteers are ordinary men and women who find it in their hearts and their schedules to help these abused and neglected children. Utah Valley Cancer Center, located at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center has a new toll-free phone number.
