Kaden Robertson plays offense at the game.

The Green River Pirates, after a slow start in the first half of play, rallied in the second half to defeat Whitehorse 73-59 and end their region season with a 7-1 record.
Whitehorse led after the first quarter 16-14 and when each team scored 9 points in the second period, Whitehorse led at the half 25-23. The Pirates came alive in the second half as they won the third period 20-13 and the fourth 30-21.
Green River now takes the region’s top seed and will play this Wednesday at the state tournament. They will play the winner of the Rich-St. Josephs Catholic game at 1 p.m. in the Sevier Valley Center in Richfield.
Rich and St. Josephs played Monday at Rich for the opportunity to travel to Richfield. Rich finished the season with a 7-13 record and St. Josephs finished with an 11-10 record. Rich, after losing their first ten games finished the season 7-3.
In the Whitehorse game, Brent Johnson was the leading scorer with 29 points and Kaden Robertson finished with 23 points as the season long leading scorers continued doing their thing.
Also scoring in the game was Kaleb Fail with 15 points, Jace Vetere with 5 points and Brennan Bigelow with 1 point. Kaden and Jace each had a 3-pointer in the game. Green River was only 15 for 29 at the free throw line, which could hurt at state. Games are usually close in the tourney and missed free throws could haunt you.
The state tournament will last Wednesday through Saturday and each team stays until they get two losses. Good luck Pirates.
