Cub Scout Roundtable


“Digging in the dirt.” All wolf, bear and Webelos den leaders, cubmasters, primary counselors, committee chairman, and committee members are welcome to attend on April 13 at 7:30 p.m. at the Castle Dale Stake Center. Go in the west door and upstairs for the meeting. Roundtable will provide at least an hour’s worth of help aimed for the den and pack programs for the following month featuring games, ceremonies, projects and other fun activities.

Bridge Construction Delayed


The bridge reconstruction work that was slated to begin April 3 on US-6, north of Green River, has been delayed. Further notice will be posted before construction is to begin.

American Legion Auxiliary


The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 73 of Huntington, Cleveland, and Elmo will hold a meeting April 8, at 1 p.m. at the Star Grill/Fun Center on Huntington Main Street. Democrat Convention


The Emery County Democrat Convention will be held April 28 at 6 p.m. at the Museum of the San Rafael, 96 North 100 East, Castle Dale.

Republican Convention


The Emery County Republican Convention will be held on April 5 at the Emery County Recreation Center, 75 South 400 East in Castle Dale. The doors will open at 6 p.m. to ask questions of candidates. The convention will begin at 7 p.m. There is no charge.

Miss Castle Dale


The Miss Castle Dale Pageant will be held June 2 at the Emery High Auditorium at 7 p.m. Applications are now being taken from ages 5-21. Queens and runner-ups will receive cash prizes. Miss Castle Dale will have the opportunity to be sponsored in the Miss Emery County Pageant. Applications may be obtained at the Castle Dale City Hall. Deadline is May 5. Student Art Exhibition

Emery All-Star Cheerleading

Wrestling Sponsors


The Emery High wrestling team is looking for sponsors for their wrestling team. Attending tournaments throughout the year is expensive but necessary to add to the strength of the team. Emery County Gun Club


The April schedule for the Emery County Gun Club is: April 8-50 bird handicap at 1 p.m.; April 14-buddy shoots at 7 p.m.; April 22-50 bird handicap at 1 p.m.; and April 28-buddy shoots at 7 p.m. Come out and shoot under the lights every other Friday night.

Archaeology Camp and Field School

Dinosaur Paleontology Camp


A Dinosaur Paleontology Camp will be held on June 19-23 at the CEU Bone Preparation Lab and Price River Quarry Site. The workshop is designed for incoming 10 through 12 grade high school students. Students have to have a 3.0 grade point average or a letter of recommendation from a science instructor. The cost is $200.

A scholarship is being set up in the name of Juanita Varela Childs, who was killed in a tragic car accident. At the time of her death, she was a teacher at Carbon High School. A local veterans employment representative visits the Castle Dale DWS Office the first Wednesday of each month. BLM Seeks Nominations for Utah’s RAC


Utah residents interested in the management and conservation of public lands have an opportunity to become directly involved through participation on the BLM Utah RAC. Council members provide advice and recommendations to the BLM concerning the use and management of 22 million acres of public land in Utah. Miss Emery Seeks Contestants


The Miss Emery Pageant will be held on July 15 at 7 p.m. The pageant committee is seeking those girls who would like to participate in the pageant.

Vendors wanted for the Emery County Fair to be held Aug. 3-5. Looking for exclusive food concession vendors. Each vendor may apply to have two exclusive entree food items for their booth. The Utah Science Center and the University of Utah are seeking entries for the 2006 Salt Lake Valley Science and Engineering Fair from 5-12 grade students and also adults to serve as judges and in other volunteer positions. Castle Country King Crawlers

Tip Line for Drug Violations


A tip line has been introduced in Emery County. The Emery County drug task force is requesting help from the residents to report any suspicious drug activity. The number is 381-2888, and all callers will remain anonymous. It is very important for citizens to be actively involved in helping remove drugs users and pushers from Emery County.

AWANA Club


AWANA club for children age 3 through sixth grade will be held at Desert Edge Christian Chapel on Wednesdays from 6-8 p.m. There will be fun, games, Bible lessons, treats and fun. The theme for this year is Red, White, and Blue, the Lord Loves You. For more information call 653-2361.

CASA Volunteers Needed


Each year hundreds of children in Emery and Carbon counties become wards of the juvenile court system due to child abuse, neglect or abandonment. The child welfare system can only devote so much time and attention to each individual case and, consequently, to each individual child. CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) Volunteers are ordinary men and women who find it in their hearts and their schedules to help these abused and neglected children. Utah Valley Cancer Center, located at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center has a new toll-free phone number.
