Letter to the Editor: Listening to Democrats

By PATRICK N. SUNDSTROM Emery

Dear Editor,
I have been writing many letters over the years communicating my disgust at the modern democratic party. Lately I have drawn some very harsh criticism from some readers. They seem to think I do not care for the democrats because of Sean Hannity or the republican drivel I listen to.
I do not care for the democrats for two reasons. I listen to what they say and watch what they do. I believe a person should be judged on what they say and do, especially if they want to be leaders of the country. To make my point clear I will provide some examples.
I watched and listened when democrat Senator Dianne Feinstein told ABC News if she could have gotten enough votes in the Senate she would have gladly confiscated every firearm from every citizen in America. I watched and listened when democrat Senator John Kerry told CBS News it was American soldiers who were terrorizing Iraq women and children in the dead of night. I watched and listened when democrat Representative Cynthia McKinney called our president the worlds biggest terrorist. I watched and listened when democrat Representative John Murtha said we cannot win the war in Iraq and he would not join the military today. I read the words of democrat Vice President Al Gore when he wrote the price of gasoline in America should be $5 a gallon. I listened to democrat Senator Hillary Clinton say she was dead set against illegal immigration, then two weeks later she goes to an illegal immigration rally and tells these people how great and important they are to the country. I listened as democrat Senator Dick Durbin stood on the senate floor and compared our soldiers to Nazis or soldiers of Pol Pot or Stalin. I do not have enough time or space to even start on Bill Clinton. These are just a few of the things that make me dislike and distrust the democrat party.
I have one question for everyone. How can we trust the democrats to lead our country when they can look out at all the challenges we have with terrorism and Islamic extremists such as the ones leading Iran, and then conclude that George W. Bush is the problem. They can say what they want about the challenges we face in Iraq but one thing is certain; Iraq is no longer a threat to its neighbors or the world.
In closing let me reiterate my point. I don’t have to read the internet, listen to Sean Hannity or Rush Limbaugh to stoke my fire against democrats. All I need to do is listen to the democrats themselves. I have heard enough drivel from them to last me a lifetime. I agree the best candidate does not always have an R after his name. It is just that with the exception of Emery County Sheriff Lamar Guymon, they have not put up one I can vote for. Thank you and God bless America.
