PRICE- Loretta (Sutherland) Thayn, 71, passed away on April 22, 2006 in Price. She was born on Nov. 15, 1934 in Wallsburg to George and Grace Sutherland. In 1951, she married Alonzo (Lon) Thayn. They lived together most of their lives in Wellington on their farm. She was known for her strong spirit, and many will miss her.
Loretta is survived by her husband, Alonzo (Lon) Thayn; her seven children, Judy (David) Sanderson, Gloria (Sheldon) Oviatt, Darlene Harvel, Scott (Mary) Thayn, Clark Thayn, Valorie (Jason) Marietti, and Lon (Julie) Thayn; 16 grandsons, five granddaughters, nine great-grandsons and three great-granddaughters. Also survived by five brothers, Lamar (Harla) Sutherland, Ronald (Chris) Sutherland, Delbert (Kay) Sutherland and Ernie (Lorraine) Sutherland, all of Salt Lake, and Ray (Darlene) Thayn of Prescott Valley, Ariz.; and one sister Linda (Danny) Schindler, of Salt Lake. Preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Melissa Ann Sanderson, and a brother, Ralph Sutherland.
Memorial services will be held on April 27 at 11 a.m. at Fausett Mortuary in Price. Friends are invited to visit with the family the evening prior from 6-8 p.m. at the mortuary. A luncheon will be provided at the stake center at 935 East Main Street in Wellington, following services.

Maurine Anderson


PRICE- Maurine Lewis Anderson, age 96, passed away April 22, 2006 at the Castle Country Care Center in Price.
She was born April 2, 1910 in Lawrence to Morgan Owen and Mary Madora Wilcock Lewis.
Married Howard T. Ballard, July 19, 1930, in Columbia; he died May 30, 1962. Married L.J. “Andy” Anderson, Aug. 7, 1981 in the Manti LDS Temple, he died July 14, 2000.
Member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She enjoyed crocheting, cooking, embroidering and caring for her family. Maurine worked for many years at JC Penney’s of Price.
Survived by her daughter, Janet Beach, Price; daughter-in-law, Gaylene Ballard, Price; sister, Cleo Muhlestein, Provo; brother, Russell Dean (Charolette) Lewis, Salt Lake City; eight grandchildren; Michael (Linda) Ballard, Lance Ballard, Connie Cooper, Kent (Karen) Steele, Robert (Julie) Steele, Lynne McDonald, Debbie (Mark) Clausen M.D., Leonard (Heidie) Peterson; 14 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; daughter, Pat Steele; son, Martin Ballard; brothers, Ross and Glen Lewis; sisters, Mae, Luella, Mabel and Vera.
Funeral service, Wed., April 26 at 11 a.m. Mitchell Funeral Home. Family will be at Mitchell’s Wednesday one hour prior to service. Interment, Price City Cemetery.

Nathan Sanchez


SALT LAKE CITY/PRICE-Our loving son, brother, grandson and accomplished musician, Nathan Allen Sanchez, age 32, passed away April 22, 2006 in West Jordan. He was born Dec. 9, 1973 in Springville, Utah to Arthur L. Sanchez and Linda B, Guire.
Nathan was a highly accomplished and successful musician who shared his amazing talents with those around him. He was a self-taught pianist, guitar player, poet, composer, and writer. He was a graduate of Skyline High School, Class of 1993. Nathan loved life in general, he loved animals, camping, and enjoying the outdoors.
Survived by his father, Arthur L. Sanchez; mother, Linda B. Crawford; step-mother, Beckie Sanchez; brothers, Arthur L. Sanchez Jr., Ogden; Anthony P. Sanchez, West Jordan; Steven Carsello, Price; sister, Sophia Garcia, West Jordan; grandmother, Rachel Sanchez, Price; grandparents, Ron and Gloria Zufelt, Huntington; Rudy and Shanna Mezek, Price; and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his spiritual wife Julie Dwire and her son James Allen Dwire, who Nathan loved as his own son.
Family and friends were welcomed at Mitchell Funeral Home in Price on Mon. April 24, 2006 from 7-9 p.m., with a tribute honoring Nathan beginning at 7:30 p.m. Graveside services will be held Tues. April 25, 2006 at 10 a.m. in the Price City Cemetery with a reception immediately following in the basement of the Notre Dame Church. Nathan has requested those in attendance to wear his favorite color purple. In lieu of flowers, Nathan has requested donations to cancer research in the area of Ewings sarcoma. Donations may be made at any Key Bank location in Utah.

Larry Devereaux


ELMO- Lawrence Edward Devereaux,II, age 45, passed away April 21, 2006 at the University of Utah Hospital.
He was born Oct. 2, 1960 in Rifle, Colo. to Lawrence Edward and Edith Grosser Devereaux.
Married Janet Jensen, Oct. 7, 1983 in Las Vegas, Nev.
Larry was a longtime resident of Emery County, where he retired from Deer Creek Coal Mine in November 2005. He enjoyed spending time in the outdoors, fishing, going to the desert and camping. Larry loved spending time with his family and playing baseball with his boys.
Survived by his parents, Lawrence and Edith Devereaux, Grand Juction, Colo.; wife, Janet Devereaux, Elmo; children, Jennifer Devereaux, Summerville, S.C.; Skyler and Chadisty Devereaux, Omaha, Neb.; Aaron Devereaux; Shawn Devereaux, both of Elmo; sisters, Susan Gordon, Great Falls, Mont.; Angie Devereaux, Grand Juction, Colo.; brother Mike and Robin Gordon, Huntington; grandchildren, Kenneth and Rachael.
Funeral service, Fri., April 28, 2006, 11 a.m., Desert Edge Christian Church. Family will be at the church Friday one hour prior to service. Friends are welcome at Mitchell Funeral Home Thursday from 9 a.m.- 9 p.m. Interment, Huntington City Cemetery.
