LouVerda (Mackelprang) Reed, 67, of Elmo, passed away peacefully May 24 surrounded by her family. She was born Jan. 17, 1939 in Long Beach, Calif. to Willard and Maurine (Brinkerhoff) Mackelprang. She married John Gordon Reed on March 18, 1960 in Fresno, Calif.
LouVerda was at her happiest when surrounded by her family and friends. She was active in the Daughters of Utah Pioneers where she served for many years as captain of the Lily of the Valley Camp, and as an officer in the Emery Company. A member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served in numerous callings. She also enjoyed cooking and spending time gardening. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her life.
She is survived by her children, John Brad (Geri Lyn) Reed of Orangeville, Bert Willard (Christy) Reed of Elmo, and Sherrie Hansen of Huntington; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Also survived by her sisters, Vida M. Leigh of Midvale and Rue Dell Sudweeks of Sandy; and brothers, Dr. Alonzo J. (Sandra) Mackelprang of Springfield, Ill., and Willard Stephen (Julie) Mackelprang of Springcreek, Nev. Preceded in death by her husband; parents; son, Ronald Clete Reed; and brother, Benion B Mackelprang,.
Services will be held Tues. May 30 at Noon in the Elmo LDS ward chapel. Friends were welcomed to call Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the mortuary in Castle Dale, and one hour prior to services at the chapel. Interment in the Elmo City Cemetery. Services under the direction of Fausett Mortuary.
