Matt Williams carries the torch in the Special Olympics run.

The Emery County Sheriff’s Office sponsored the annual torch run for the special needs children from the Castle Valley Center.
Sgt. Gayle Jensen has been involved with the torch run for the past 15 years. “We love doing this for these kids. It gives the kids and law enforcement a chance to get together and raise money and awareness for Special Olympics. Sheriff Lamar Guymon has been very supportive of our efforts. The fire departments, elementary schools and the deputies who come out and help are greatly appreciated. The kids love to see everyone lined up along the parade route to cheer them on.
“Cheryl Keener has been very instrumental down to Green River in organizing their run.
“The kids look forward to this event every year that allows them to get out in the community,” said Jensen.
