Ivan Kenneth Nielsen
Ivan Kenneth Nielsen, age 92, passed away Mon., June 12, 2006, at home in Midway, Utah. He was born June 14, 1914, in Ferron, Utah, to Carl E. and Agnes Rassmussen Nielsen. Married LaVer Jensen Oct. 3, 1936, and later solemnized the marriage in the Manti LDS Temple.
Ivan was an active member of the LDS Church. He was a farmer and raised cattle in Clawson, Utah. Ivan loved horses. Some of his favorite pastimes were spent with family and close friends with music and singing.
He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, LaVer; four daughters: Helen (Tom) Griswold of Elko, Nev., Ronda (Ray) Hult of Midway, Susan (Jim) Young of Taylorsville, Rebecca (Marvin) Johnson of Taylorsville; 20 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren whom he loved dearly.
Funeral services were held Sat., June 17, 2006 at 2 p.m. in the Midway LDS First Ward, 250 East 200 South, Midway, Utah. Friends called on Saturday from 12-1:30 p.m. prior to the services at the LDS Church. Interment followed in the Midway City Cemetery. Arrangements under the direction of Olpin-Hoopes Funeral Home, Heber City.
Alten Jensen
EMERY-Alten Jensen, our beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend passed away June 14, 2006. Born May 30, 1913 in Emery to Emmalina and Louis Peter Jensen. He married Irene Lucille Carter March 25, 1946, in the Manti LDS Temple.
He was active in the Emery LDS Ward and spent his life ranching, farming and being a family man in Emery.
Preceded in death by his wife, five brothers, three sisters and his parents. Survived by one sister, Lula Anderson; a daughter, Janet Booth; two sons, Joel Jensen and Drew Jensen; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed.
Services were held Sat. June 17, 2006 at the Emery LDS Chapel where friends and family called prior to services. Burial in the Emery Cemetery under the direction of Fausett Mortuary.
Corilla Woolsey Spadafora
ARIZONA-Corilla (Kellie) Woolsey Spadafora, age 88, passed away June 14, 2006 in Phoenix, Ariz. She was born July 2, 1917, the daughter of William and Maggie Boam Woolsey.
In 1936, she married Frank Spadafora who passed away on June 14, 1965, exactly 41 years to the date of Corilla’s death.
Corilla and Frank resided in Price for 14 years and later moved to Anaheim, Calif., where she continued practicing nursing until her retirement.
Survived by her sons, Carmon Gary Spadafora and his wife Jeannie, Glendale, Ariz.; Frank Terry Spadafora, Phoenix, Ariz.; sister, Rose Fausett, Price; brother, Doug Woolsey, California; special friend, Jerry; nine grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Preceded in death by her husband, Frank Spadafora; great-grandson, Aaron Dale Spadafora and nine of her siblings.
Graveside service, Mon. June 19, 2006, 10 a.m. Price City Cemetery. Family was at Mitchell Funeral Home Sunday evening from 7-8 p.m. and Monday one hour prior to service.
Michael Long
ORANGEVILLE-Michael Robert Long, age 54, passed away unexpectedly June 9, 2006 at his home in Orangeville. He was born Aug. 17, 1951 in Salt Lake City to Michael Charles and Beulah Faye Eldredge Long.
He married Patricia Camille Cox June 16, 1995. He served in the US Army in Vietnam where he received many decorations. He had a passion for music and sports. He loved camping, fishing, and just being in the outdoors, especially with his family.
He was a member of the LDS Church and was always ready to lend a hand whenever needed.
Michael is survived by his wife Camille of Orangeville and their children and their spouses, Tammie and Chris Gibbs, and Monique Clontz, all of Monroe, and Justin Long and his wife of California; and six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Also survived by sisters Kathie Cook of Pocatello, and Bobbie Empey of Salt Lake City. Preceded in death by his parents and grandson Daniel Peterson.
Funeral services were held Fri., June 16, 2006 at noon in the Orangeville LDS Chapel, where friends called one hour prior to services. Burial was in the Orangeville Cemetery under the direction of Fausett Mortuary.
Dan Pulli
HUNTINGTON-Daniel Peter Pulli, age 73, passed away June 15, 2006 at his home. He was born Nov. 20, 1932 in Minneapolis, Minn. to Peter and Louise May Ricci Pulli. He married Sherron Mills Aug. 24, 1963 in Huntington.
Dan was a graduate of Carbon High School. He served in the US Army in Korea. Dan was a co-owner and operator of M.P.M. Associates. He was an avid sportsman who loved golf, and on every Tuesday he could be found on the Carbon Country Club Golf Course with his buddies.
He served on the College of Eastern Utah Alumni Committee, where he truly enjoyed helping organize the scholarship fundraiser golf tournament. He was an honorary life member of Price Elk’s Lodge #1550.
Dan had a wonderful sense of humor and he loved to give service to others. He was active in the community and he loved being involved. He was very dedicated to his family and he loved to spend time with them.
Survived by his loving wife, Sherron Pulli, Huntington; son, D. Paul (Angela) Pulli, Leander, Texas; grandchildren, Tyler, Melece and Taigon; three sisters, Evelyn Gullickson, Marion (Joe) Matson, Lorraine Bjornlie; brothers, James (Bonnie) Pulli, and Robert (Carol) Pulli; brothers-in-law, Mac (Linda) Mills, and Bob (Lorraine) Mills; and many other family members and close friends. Preceded in death by his parents, and sisters Bernice and Ruth.
Funeral service was held Mon. June 19, 2006 at 11 a.m. at the Huntington LDS Stake Center. Family was at Mitchell Funeral Home in Price on Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m. and at the church on Monday one hour prior to service. Interment in the Huntington City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the College of Eastern Utah Alumni Association, 451 East 400 North, Price, Utah 84501.
Anna Marolt Tolich
SPRING GLEN- Anna Marolt Tolich, age 98, passed away peacefully June 13, 2006 in Price. She was born Oct. 6, 1907 in Sodrazica, Austria to Michael and Maria Marolt.
Married John Tolich in Sunnyside in 1924. John passed away in 1951.
Anna was the youngest of 11 siblings. She came with some of her family to Sunnyside at the age of 5.
Raising her family was the most important part of Anna’s life. She was an active member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church and was a member of the Altar Society for many years. She was a member of the Slovenian and Creation Fraternal Union as well as an officer.
Her love for music began at an early age. At the age of 15, Anna became a member of the Tomburitiza Orchestra in Sunnyside. Through the years, she participated in her church choir, Senior Citizen Kitchen Band, and the CEU Community Choir. Anna was able to return to her home town of Sodrazica on two different occasions and because of her ability to speak both languages of Slovenian and Croatian she was a translator for the 1989 International Special Olympics games in Reno, Nev. Anna’s formal education was the sixth grade but her desire to further her education enabled her to receive her GED at the age of 62. Her love of people was utilized in her jobs with Community Action Program and Ann Self School.
Anna is survived by her children, Elinor (Ed) Evatz, Stana (Pete) Stefani, both of Reno, Nev; Vink (JoAnn) Tolich, Spring Glen; Delores (Frank) Ularich, Phoenix, Ariz.; 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant daughter and siblings.
Funeral Mass Fri., June 16, 10 a.m., St. Anthony Catholic Church, Helper. Vigil Service, Friday at 9:30 a.m., St. Anthony Catholic Church. Committal Service, Price City Cemetery. Friends are welcomed at Mitchell’s 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that contributions be made to the Parkdale Care Center, (Anna Tolich Education Fund) 250 East 600 North, Price.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Parkdale Care Center and Rocky Mountain Hospice.
Blaine Chad Pugmire
1974 – 2006
For reasons only the Lord understands, our loving and caring husband, father, son, brother, and friend completed his mortal mission on June 8, 2006 and has returned home. Blaine was born June 12, 1974 to Marianna Hanson Pugmire and Chad Lamont Pugmire in Murray, Utah. He attended schools in Huntington and Ferron and graduated from Emery High School in 1992. He participated in football, track, wrestling and baseball and loved hunting, fishing, and just being outdoors.
He served in the Florida Jacksonville Mission of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from June 1993 – September 1995.
The happiest day of his life was July 30, 1999 as he married his sweetheart, Nicole Jones, in the Salt Lake Temple.
Blaine attended UVSC and graduated magna cum laude from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Fla. in 2001. He accepted a prestigious internship from United Airlines and another from Atlantic Coast Airlines and flew commercially for the latter. Wanting to return to Utah, Blaine became a flight instructor with UVSC and pilot for Atlantic Southeast Airlines. His commitment to family prompted an acceptance of a corporate pilot position in May. He loved and admired his colleagues and claimed to have the best office view of anyone in the company.
Blaine is survived by his wife Nicole, sons Jordan and Jaden, daughter Lexi, parents, brothers and sisters Boyd (Julie) Pugmire, Darrell (Tami) Pugmire, Corinne (Troy) Selk, Kenneth (Teresa) Pugmire and Melanie (Jason) Crane, grandparents, Junior and Ada Pugmire, many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by grandparents Golden and Edith Hanson, nephew’s Trevin Selk and Elijah Pugmire, aunt Rosalie Hanson Snyder and uncle John Hanson.
Family visitation was held Fri. June 16 at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 East 200 South, Springville from 6-8 p.m. and one hour prior to services. Funeral Services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Hobble Creek West Stake Center, 555 South 600 East (Averett Avenue). A trust fund has been established at Central Bank in Blaine’s Name.
Blaine – now you know what we believe – God lives and Jesus is the Christ. Their plan enables our reunion and eternity together. Please pilot us safely home.
Richard Lee Bronson
ORANGEVILLE-Richard Lee Bronson passed away on Wed., June 14, 2006, after a long illness. He was a patient at Mayfield Community Care Center in Mayfield.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Dora Mae, September of 2001, daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Cliff Leavitt, November and May of 2002 and son-in-law, Billy Weilage, April of 2005.
He is survived by his four children; Kathy Kelly, Provo; son and daughter-in-law, Rick and CJ, Seattle, Wash.; son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Lonna, Port Orchard, Wash. and daughter, Barbara Weilage, Golden Shores, Ariz. Also surviving him are his 19 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, brother-in-law and sisters-in-law. He is also survived by his sister, Phyllis Brown of Manti and brother Reid, Korea.
He proudly served his country as a 20 year veteran of the United States Navy. He was in the Korean War and while stationed in Norfolk, Va., he served on the aircraft carrier USS Randolph. When he retired in 1969 at Miramar Naval Air Station in San Diego, Calif., he was ranked E7 and taught electronics. After his retirement from the navy, he continued his work in electronics at a civilian level. He and Dora Mae moved with Debbie to Price in 1975 after he accepted employment with what was the American Coal Company, state-certifying electricians for the coal mines. He worked in Huntington at American Coal’s coal mine simulator facility. He continued to work in the electronics field until he retired completely in 1990.
A viewing will be at Fausett Mortuary from 9:30-10:30 a.m. in Castle Dale on June 21 with graveside services following at 11 a.m. at Orangeville Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest next to Dora Mae.
Helen Lewis
Helen Lewis, 92, of Emery, Utah, passed away June 15, 2006, at Holladay Health Care in Salt Lake City. Private graveside services were held June 17, 2006 at Emery Cemetery.
Jordan and Joshua Hurst
Graveside services for Jordan and Joshua Hurst, infant sons of Frank and Tara Hurst, will be held Wed., June 21 at 11 a.m. at the Cleveland Cemetery under the direction of Fausett Mortuary.
