Francy Handley
Francy Handley was born Nov. 19, 1926 in Needles, Calif. in her aunt Doretta’s home. She lived in Hiawatha, Utah until June 15, 1941, then moved to Huntington. She attended her freshman and sophomore year there, then attended Wasatch Academy in Mt. Pleasant for her junior and senior years.
She married Dan LeRoy June 25, 1947. They are the parents of six children, Sharree Grimmett, sons, Drew, Greg, Jimmie, Kelly and Frederick. Dan died Aug. 18, 1972 in the Veterans Hospital. She worked for Maurice Jensen at Thrif-T market for two years and Utah Oil Company as a secretary.
Francy has belonged to the American Legion Auxiliary for 62 years and held unit, district and state offices. She decorated Huntington City for Christmas for seven years. She worked for the Red Cross for 19 years. She tended children for the nursery for 17 years. She was awarded the RSVP Silver Cup award for community service, and also received an award from Huntington City at a county banquet. She taught cursive writing at the elementary school for five years.
She married an ironworker from West Virginia, Sam Handley, Dec. 10, 1976. They worked together on many occasions. He passed away Jan. 27, 1997 from cancer. Francy has 15 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren, and they are the love of her life. She loves to crochet, go shopping, enjoys her family and friends visits, and going out to eat. She also loves to decorate her yard on the various holidays.

Her parents were Walter A. and Famie Baxter, and she has one older brother Jim, who lives with his wife Donna in Carson City, Nev.
She is just recovering from her 21st surgery.
