Deloy Bogdin
HELPER- Deloy Lawrence Bogdin, age 84, passed away June 28, 2006 at his home.
He was born Dec. 16, 1921 in Sunnyside, Utah to George and Mary Elanor Olsen Bogdin.
Married Ora Orton, Aug. 4, 1944 in Lawrence, Utah; marriage was later solemnized in the Manti Temple on July 18, 1964.
Member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he was an Elder and devoted many hours helping others.
Deloy was a lifelong resident of Carbon County where he worked in various coal mine operations prior to retirement in 1979. Member U.M.W.A. Castle Gate Coal Local #1681.
Deloy enjoyed camping fishing, playing dolls with his great grandchildren and spoiling his grandchildren to their every delight.
Survived by his wife of 61 years, Ora Bogdin, Helper; sons, Deloy (LaNae) Bogdin, Castle Dale; Leland Bogdin, John Bogdin, both Price; Butch (Judy) Bogdin, Craig, Colo.; Jackie (Sue) Bogdin, Helper; sisters, Millie (Ted) Granger, Salt Lake; Ila Miers, West Jordan; Ileen Fish, Helper; brother, Floyd (Pat) Mackley, Price; 16 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by parents, daughters, Rhonda and Arlene; granddaughter, Jackie; great-granddaughter, Kira; sisters, Betty, Leora, Vera; brothers, Reese, George, Neldon.
Funeral service, Sat., July 1, 2006, 12 noon, Helper LDS Stake Center. Family was at Mitchell Funeral Home Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. and at the church Saturday one hour prior to service. Interment, Mt. View Cemetery, Helper.

Roy Willis “Steve” Cook
Roy Willis “Steve” Cook, esq., born June 3, 1914, passed away peacefully Sun. June 25, 2006 in DeSoto, Kan. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 64 years, Delila Alene “Duchess” Cook, who passed Dec. 6, 2002. Their remains will be laid to rest beside each other in Olathe Cemetery at a memorial service in Olathe, Colo. at 1 p.m. on July 15, 2006.
He is survived by one sister, Katie Mae Sumner, of Colorado, one daughter, Jennie Jo Crowder of Kansas, and one son, Stephen Willis Cook of Utah. Grandchildren are Carey Morgan Crowder of Utah, Cassandra Sue Tucker of Kansas, Dr. Blaze Willis of Colorado, Dr. Tyson Willis Cook of North Carolina, and Tristan Cook of Utah. His dear friend and cousin, Genie Urquhart of Colorado, also survives.
Roy was the youngest of eight children. His adventures began when his father Joseph Willis Cook, and mother, Josephine Florence Cook moved from Parsons, Kan. to the Uncompaghre Valley in Colorado to farm. There, Roy learned to farm the fertile valley, and he met his future life partner, Delila. He worked the land, and then sought his fortune selling fruit and vegetables from the valley all around the Western Slope. After winning the hand of his beloved, their adventures took them to Green River, Utah where Roy worked for a short time with the railroad, then became a business owner of several businesses: sand and gravel, uranium mining, building roads and bridges, owning a gas station, and building and running two state tourist attractions, Crystal Geyser and the more famous Roadside Geyser in Woodside, Utah.
Roy and Delila eventually left Utah to develop his knowledge of gas and oil well production across Kansas. He held several patents, and was a man of many skills and talents. Roy and his Duchess were a dynamic team in business, as well as life.
Roy loved to fish, hunt, and experience the outdoors. In later life, he immensely enjoyed sharing his stories of life experiences. Roy lived a magical life full of adventures, and his family greatly misses him.
