Emery Spartan Cheer Camp
The Spartan cheerleaders will have a cheer camp. The proceeds will go towards Emery’s Cheer competiton. The camp will be held Aug. 2-4 from 9:30-11 a.m. in the old gym. On Aug. 4 at 10:30 a.m. the public is welcome to watch their performance. Age groups are 4-6, 7-9, 10-12, and 13-15. No black sole shoes, no jewelry and wear hair up out of face. Cost is $25 per child.
Emery County Fair Float
It is time to get moving and preparing a float for the Emery County Fair on Aug. 5. Let’s make our parade this year one to be remembered by young and old. Parade will begin in Stewart’s parking lot and will begin promptly at 10 a.m. You can find an entry paper on the Emery County Fair website and return to the Recreation Center. Emery County Fair Exhibits
This is what the fair is all about. Individuals bring their wares to show off their special talents in many categories. You will find exhibits of canned and baked goods, crafts, quilts, art, photographs, fruits, vegetables, flowers and anything else handmade or grown by our county citizens. Exhibits are located in the fair building at the fair grounds and will be open for public viewing Aug. 3-5 from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. For more info call Michelle Scovill at 748-2393 or the Rec Center at 381-2108. Exhibits will be accepted on Aug. 2 from 9 a.m.-7 p.m. Baked items, fresh fruits, vegetables and flowers will be accepted Aug. 3 from 9 a.m.-11 a.m.
4-H Exhibits
The Emery County Fair has traditionally been a show case for 4-H members to exhibit their projects for the year. Farm Bureau Talent Find
The Farm Bureau Talent Find will be held Aug. 3 from 4-6 p.m. in the big tent at the fairgrounds in Castle Dale. For more information or with any questions, call Cassie Thatcher at 653-2199.
Spirit Life Grows
There will be a retreat at Home Place in Orangeville on July 29 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. This can enable participants to cultivate their spirit lives for greater fruitfulness. For information and reservations call Paula at 435-748-2230.
Miss Peach Days Pageants
It’s time again for the Little Miss Peach Blossom, Junior Miss and Miss Peach Days pageant. Girls from Ferron, Clawson and Emery are eligible. Sign ups will be held July 17 from 5:30-8 p.m. for Little Miss Peach Blossom. For Junior Miss and Miss Peach Days, sign ups are due by July 31 by 5 p.m. at Ferron City Hall. Christmas in July Toy and Poker Run
The eighth annual Christmas in July toy and poker run presented by the Emery County Riders for Santa will be held from July 21 at 7 a.m. to July 24 at 5 p.m. The ride will begin at Gilly’s in Ferron, proceed to Bowery Haven at Fish Lake, Bicknell, Green River and will culminate at Randy’s in Emery. This can be ridden in one day or four. All benefits go to underprivileged children. New toys or cash appreciated. At Green River City Park on July 24 at 8 p.m. a dance will be held with a raffle, prizes, T-shirts, and pins. If a rider wishes he may pick up his fifth card at the dance. Pioneer Day Comes to Emery Town
Bring your friends and family to Emery Town on July 22 to celebrate Pioneer Day. There will be breakfast, a parade at 9 a.m., classic car show, bikes and tractors, a rodeo, skeet shooting, a muzzle loader competition, dinner, vendors, and fun, fun, fun. Hope to see you in Emery Town.
Relay Utah Now Offers Amplified Cordless Phone For Hard of Hearing
For Utahns living with hearing loss and limited mobility, an amplified cordless phone is now available through Relay Utah, a division of the State of Utah Public Service Commission to help meet the needs of the hard of hearing who also experience mobility limitations with wheelchair, walker or oxygen use. The amplified cordless phones are available, at no charge, to hard of hearing individuals in Utah who currently participate in the Supplemental Security Income program, Medicaid and other Department of Human Service or Public Assistance programs. Individuals who do not participate in these programs can purchase the phone by contacting Clear Sounds at 800-965-9043 or www.clearsounds.com.
Cleveland Days Bike Ride
Be at on Cleveland City Park on July 19 with your bike, a helmet and drinking water at 6 p.m. A new mountain bike will be given away as the grand prize. Helmets are required. Sponsored by Cleveland City, promoted by MECCA Contact Kim if you have questions 653-2440.
Castle Dale City Summer Celebration
Castle Dale City Summer Celebration will be held on July 22 at the Castle Dale rodeo grounds. Free swimming at the Castle Dale pool from noon-6 p.m. Games, relay races, volleyball, horseshoes, golf putting challenge, mechanical calf roping, inflatable games, dunk tank, etc. will run from 2-5 p.m. Pie eating contest will begin at 2:30 p.m. Foam slip ‘n slide at 3:30 p.m. Pole climb at 4:30 p.m. Barbecue for a buck at 5-7 p.m. Kids rodeo 7:30-8:30 p.m. The kids rodeo will include mutton bustin, calf riding, steer riding, barrel racing, stick horse races, pig chase, wiener dog races, chicken chase and cash cow chase. Fireworks will be at dark. Registration for the pie eating contest and the rodeo will be from 2-6:30 p.m. Come out and enjoy the fun at the Castle Dale City Summer Celebration.
Art in the Park
On July 21, Ferron City will sponsor Art in the Park and will feature cowboy poetry by Kent Petersen and singing by Barbara Moore, Doris Walker and Candy Price. It will be held at Mayor’s Park at 7 p.m. The concert is free and open to all. Bring a lawn chair or blanket to sit on. For more information call Ferron City Hall at 384-2350. The next Art in the Park will be held Aug. 25 and will feature another local artist.

Food Handler’s Class
Food handler’s classes will be taught in Price on Aug. 22, Sept. 27 at 9 a.m., 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. and in Castle Dale at the health department on Aug. 24 and Sept. 28 at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. There will also be classes taught at the Green River City Hall on July 20 at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. There is a charge and the class is two hours long. Fair/Pageant Dinner
Start planning to come to the Fair/Pageant dinner to be held at the fair grounds on Aug. 3-5 and 8-12. This dinner is a fund raiser for the youth city councils to hold their third annual youth leadership summit in September. This is a great opportunity for the youth and we need to have the support of the county on our dinner. to make our summit a huge success. Remember to support our youth.
Veterans of Foreign Wars
A field service officer from the Veterans of Foreign Wars will be at the Price Workforce Service Center on July 20 from 8:30-10:30 a.m. This is a free service to assist veterans, widows and dependents in understanding and applying for rightful VA benefits.
Summer Storytime at Orangeville Library
Along with storytime each Thursday, young readers can earn their own library card by reading 100 pages for each year of their age. Senior Beginners Line Dancing
