The Emery County Drug Task Force made a meth bust on July 10. The task force received an anonymous tip that a subject was possibly bringing drugs into the county.
The subject was on probation and the Adult Probation and Parole became involved in the process to arrest the subject. The deputies stopped the subject by the Emery High School in Castle Dale and made the arrest of a male.
He was bringing approximately one ounce of methamphetamine into the county with an estimated value of $1,300. The meth was recovered along with scales, baggies and propane torches. Christopher Robin Wood from Price was booked into the Emery County Jail on charges of possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance.
Det. John Barnett, Deputy Blake Gardner and Agent James Weaver were involved in the apprehension of Wood.
It is presumed the drugs were coming into the county to be purchased by Emery County users at a predetermined location.
Emery County Sheriff Lamar Guymon said, “Our drug task force works diligently to arrest those persons attempting to bring drugs into our county. They work hard to slow down the supply of drugs for our users. As long as there are users in our county we will have people attempting to bring drugs into them and users selling drugs.
“We need everyone to understand what it takes to put a case together for it to hold up in court. Just because someone believes or thinks someone is using or selling, we need evidence. One of our big concerns is funding to the task force has been cut, that has hampered us a little bit, but we are still doing what we can with what we have. We appreciate the information from the public. That’s usually how it begins and we take the investigation from there. It’s based on their information. We also have the drug tip line for people who wish to remain anonymous who may have information to help us,” said Sheriff Guymon.
