The wakeboarding competition at Huntington Lake State Park will become an annual event. The competition was held as part of a program to increase awareness and attendance at the State Parks in Emery and Carbon counties.

The Utah State Parks council and Emery County formed a committee to help promote activities and events at the local state parks. Emery and Carbon counties abound with state parks: Millsite, Huntington Lake, Green River State Park and golf course, Goblin Valley and Scofield.
In conjunction with this effort, a wakeboarding tournament was held at the Huntington Lake State Park.
Wakeboard competitors from all around the state came to compete at the one day event.
The many spectators and competitors said they would be back next year and hope to make the wakeboarding competition an annual event at Huntington Lake State park.
Other events have included a fishing derby and casting contest at the Millsite Reservoir and a steal the flag event at Goblin Valley. A golf tournament which promotes both Green River and Millsite courses has also been held. A geocaching event will be held at Goblin Valley on Aug. 11-12.
