John Wesley Powell museum celebrates a month of art displays

Second place went to Cliff Green for Gastonia burgei, resin sculpture.

The John Wesley Powell River History Museum recently completed a month long art display with the Third annual Canyon River Runners Art Show. Best of show was presented to Jim Madsen with his entry of Smilodon attack. The John Wesly Powell award went to Jo Baxter for her Tranquility painting. The Shirley Venus Creative Art award went to Richard Prazen for his Four Bears steel sculpture. In the professional category first place went to Arlo Johnson for Where Rivers Run. Second place went to Cliff Green for Gastonia burgei, resin sculpture. Third place went to Jo Baxter for her Stew Again painting. Fourth place went to Valerie Orlemann for Rain on the Bookcliffs, oil painting. Honorable mention went to Jean Gasser for Treasures of the Desert, oil painting.
Amateur awards went to: First place Judi Devore, second place Russell Mendelson, third place, Linda Schooley, fourth place CK Webb and honorable mention CK Webb.
In the Young Amateurs 12-16 years category, first place went to Cameron Ford, second place to Lynsey Kyle, third place, Richard Wilson, fourth place, Elias Politio, honorable mention Tre Burton.
