Shala Pitchforth, Miss Emery 2005, participated at the Miss Utah competition in July, where she represented Emery County well.
Shala, the daughter of Shane and Laurie Pitchforth of Ferron, carried out her platform issue, Keys to Success, last year at Emery County High School. She orchestrated a program to emphasize and encourage student achievement and excellence through citizenship, extra activities and work ethic. At the culmination of the program, a car was given to a lucky winner.
Shala went to Salt Lake City during Miss Utah week and participated in the Miss Utah Scholarship Pageant held at the Capital Theater. She spent the week interacting with other contestants from throughout Utah. “It was a lot a work, but it was also a lot of fun. I learned many things from the others at the pageant,” said Shala.
During her reign as Miss Emery, Shala has presided over many county activities such as parades, county fair performances, and service projects. As her final act as Miss Emery County 2005, she co-hosted the Miss Emery County 2006 pageant held at Emery High School.
