Edna LaMarr Merrill Larson
FERRON- Edna LaMarr Merrill Larson, age 82, passed away Aug. 6, 2006 in Price.
She was born Feb. 17, 1924 in Sacramento, Calif., the oldest child of Orrin R. and Nellie McBride Merrill. She graduated from McClatchey High School in Sacramento where she excelled in art, theatre and loved playing badmitten.
She was employed at McCellan Air Field during WWII and received several commendations for her clerical work from the Army Air Corp.
After the war she met Henry August Larson. They were married on Jan. 22, 1947 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They raised their family in California, where they built their own home. While living in California she was featured in the Sacramento Bee for decorating a home for the Parade of Homes.
The family moved to Currant Creek, Nev. where they owned and operated Currant Creek Motel, gas station and ranch. After moving to Ferron, she and her husband Henry, owned and operated Ferron Merc for several years. She also worked for Killpack Locker and the school lunch program.
LaMarr was an active member of the LDS church. Among her many various callings, she served as Primary President and Relief Society President. She was a visiting teacher and sang in the ward choirs for years. She and her husband served a mission in the Des Moines, Iowa area and were temple workers in the Manti Temple.
She loved music, dancing and painting and made all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren beautiful quilts. She painted many pictures for family and friends.
She loved sharing her talents with family, friends and neighbors.
She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, four brothers and one grandson.
Survived by one sister Kerma (Joseph) Griffiths, Pocatello, Idaho; children, Annell Jackson, Dale (Brooke) Larson, DeMar (Vicki) Larson, all of Ferron and Curtis (Maritza) Larson of American Fork, 16 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and two on the way.
Grandma Larson was loved by all and will be greatly missed.
Funeral services will be held on Fri., Aug. 11 at the Millsite Ward Building, 200 North State, Ferron (Old red church on the hill) at 1 p.m. Viewing will be held from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Burial at the Ferron Cemetery under the direction of Fausett Mortuary.
Levi Blye Seal and Jayden Kyler Seal
SPRING GLEN- Levi Blye Seal and Jayden Kyler Seal, our angels on earth and now in Heaven left us when the family vehicle was swept away by a flash flood on Sun., July 30, 2006.
Levi was born May 25, 2001 in Provo, Utah and Jayden arrived on March 2, 2005 in Davenport, Fla.
Although our time with them was short, they filled our hearts with love and joy without comparison. Levi and Jayden, were two of the smartest, fun, loving, outgoing and adventurous little characters beyond anyone’s imagination. They will be dearly missed by many and especially by all whose lives they touched.
Levi and Jayden are survived by their mommy and daddy, Courtney and Josh Seal, sister, Brooklyn Marie, all of Spring Glen; grandparents, Randy and Mary Bishop, Spring Glen; Peggy Hicks and Raul Echeverri, Lake Alfred, Fla.; Jody Seal, Spring Glen; great-grandparents, Lamar and Merlin Bishop, Price; Floyd and Gloria Seal, Spring Glen; Robert and Gladys Brownell, Zapata, Texas; Sam and Roberta Jones, Price; aunts and uncles, Chrissy Bishop, Robert Kollar, Brittany “Bubba” Bishop, all of Helper; Shawnie (Jamie) Clark, Denver, Colo.; Stephanie (Ryan) Chewning, Elizabeth and Jacob Echeverri, all of Florida; cousins, Bailey Kollar (Levi’s special bug collecting buddy), of Helper; Tazz and Quynn Clark, Denver, Colo.; Emma and Hannah Chewning, Florida; and many other loving aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends.
Funeral service, Tues., Aug. 8, 2006, 10 a.m., Mitchell Funeral Home, 233 East Main Street in Price. Family will be at Mitchell’s Monday evening from 7-9 p.m. and Tuesday one hour prior to service. Interment, Cliffview Cemetery, Price.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Washington Federal Saving and Loan or to Primary Children’s Medical Center in honor of Levi, Brooklyn and Jayden Seal.
Donella M. Wood
EAST CARBON-Lena Donella Mae Adams Wood, 74, passed away peacefully, Fri. Aug. 4, 2006, at home with her loving family at her side. She was born Jan. 6, 1932, in Perkins, Okla., the first of three beautiful daughters to Thomas and Rutha May Bennett Adams.
She and her family moved to Dove Creek, Colo. when she was very young, so her father could run their boarding house and grocery store. It was there she met her future husband, Joseph Wood. Shortly after, Donella and her family moved to East Carbon so her father could work in the Columbia Mine and she lived there ever since. Donella and Joseph were married Sept. 9, 1949 in Price, and to this 57 year union were born six loving and caring children.
Donella was known to may for different reasons. Some knew her from church where she was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; some knew her because she cut their family’s hair in her shop, “Dawn’s Beauty Shop,” for many years; most knew her for her infectious laughter, her wit, and the joy she felt in making all feel loved and cared for.
Donella took great pride in her family, and she truly enjoyed and loved caring and cooking for all of them. She was truly the most amazing, strong and loving woman her family and friends knew. She absolutely loved her children, but it was well known to them she favored the grandchildren, and each one was given her special love.
Toward the end of her life, she was diagnosed with cancer, which she fought hard for a long time, she loved life and never wasted a day of it. She will be greatly missed by her family and her friends, but never forgotten.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her beloved son, Darrell Wood.
She is lovingly survived by her husband of 57 years, Joseph Wood, of the family home; five children, Duane Wood and wife, Connie, of Castle Dale, Donald Wood and wife, Roberta, of Farmington, N.M., Larry Wood and wife, Elaine of East Carbon, Terry Wood and wife, Tracy, of St. George, and Michelle Lovell and husband, Michael, of West Jordan; 12 grandchildren, Trent Wood of South Jordan, Melissa Blackburn and husband, Kraig, of Price, Eric Wood of Huntington, Mandy Wood of Price, Jason Wood and wife, Melissa, of Huntington, Dustin Wood of East Carbon, Derek Wood and wife, Janelle, of Clovis, N.M., Casey Wood of Orangeville, Tera Lynn and Jessica Wood of St. George, and Kaden and Kylie Lovell of West Jordan; 12 beautiful great-grandchildren; two devoted sisters, Esther Davenport of Jackson, Mo., and Lois Weaver and husband, Bob, of Grand Junction, Colo.; many loving nieces and nephews whom she loved as her own; numerous cousins; and many dear friends.
Funeral service will be held Wed. Aug. 9, 2006 at 11 a.m. at the East Carbon LDS Ward. Family will be at Mitchell’s Funeral Home in Price Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m., and at the church in East Carbon Wednesday one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Valley View Cemetery in Sunnyside under the direction of Mitchell Funeral Home.
