The third annual bike ride to raise funds for cancer research was held Aug. 26. Bikers traveled from Huntington to the Buckhorn Panel and returned back to the Huntington Park. Event organizers said the ride was a lot of fun, with awesome scenery, beautiful weather and great friends coming together for a common cause. The event raised $1,521 for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life. The organizers appreciate the following businesses for their donations, Huntington Maverik for the cookies, BKs for the gatorade, Smiths for snacks and JUB Engineering for the breakfast and lunch. Next years event will be Aug. 25, 2007, so mark your calendars and plan to attend.
Cathy Sitterud, local chairman for the ACS said this biking events concludes the annual activities associated with Relay for Life. The July relay had eight teams participate and the teams walked more than 460 miles and raised $11,000 plus.
The Emery Medical Center team raised the most money and earned the traveling trophy to display at their business in the coming year. Curves was second and RSVP third in most money raised.
