Emery County Historical Society


The Emery County Historical Society Christmas Party will be held on Dec. 12, note new date, at 6:30 p.m. at the Museum of San Rafael. Christmas experience stories and caroling will be the highlight of the evening. Please bring your favorite holiday treat to share. Everyone welcome.

Snowball Express


The Snowball Express is a newly formed organization that helps widows and children of our service men and women killed in the line of duty to get on with their lives. An Evening of Christmas Music


The Huntington Glee Club and Women’s Choir will present an evening of Christmas music on Dec 17 at 7 p.m. in the Huntington LDS Stake Center featuring the cantata Come Let Us Adore Him by Lynn S. and Gerald N. Lund.

Orangeville Christmas Party


Orangeville City will host their annual Christmas Party on Dec. 2. It will be a chili cook-off, visits with Santa, and a bonfire with hot chocolate and doughnuts. Activities will begin at 6 p.m. at the city park with the lighting ceremony.

Forgotten Patient Christmas


The forgotten patient Christmas project is underway. This project helps thousands of Utah’s mentally ill enjoy Christmas. Individuals or groups can sponsor a patient, or can send donations of cash or generic items such as socks, underwear, deodorant, lotion, candy, etc. Feel the spirit of giving and sponsor a forgotten patient. BACA Christmas Party


The BACA community Christmas party will be held Dec. 9 from 1-4 p.m. at Kraync Motor Company. There will be pictures with Santa, candy, etc. for free. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Christmas Scrapbook and Card Class


A Christmas scrapbook and card class will be held on Dec. 9 at the Castle Dale Senior Citizen Center. The scrapbook class will be from 10 a.m.- 12 noon; three layouts will be available, cost varies. The card class will be from 1-3 p.m. with 15 cards for $15. An all day crop is $5 or $2 when taking one of the classes. Contact Tiffany Conover at 435-384-2272 or Felice Clements at 801-358-3802.

Festive Friday


Festive Friday events, presented by Utah State University, will continue Dec. 8 at noon in room 218 in Old County Courthouse in Castle Dale. The program will focus on cooking with less sugar. For those interested in attending, reserve your spot by calling the Extension office at 381-2381. There will be taste testing and recipes for reduced sugar items. Come with your ideas to share. Cost is $3.

Holiday 4-H


Holiday 4-H will be held Dec. 5 at 4 p.m., room 218 in the Old Courthouse in Castle Dale. Cost is $2. We will be making tree ornaments. Classes usually last about one hour. Join us for some fun. (This is the last Holiday 4-H for this year.)

Bookcliff Muzzleloaders


The Bookcliff muzzleloaders meat shoot will be held on Dec. 9 at 10 a.m. at the Bookcliff Muzzleloaders range in Price. Entry fee is $15 per shooter. For more information call Doc Atwood at 435-637-2923.

Christmas Tree Cutting


Ferron/Price Ranger Districts: (435) 384-2372/(435) 637-2817. Permits go on sale Nov. 20. Permits are $5, one permit per household, one tree only. Permits can be purchased at the Price Ranger District Office, 599 West Price River Drive, Price, and the Ferron Ranger District Office, 115 West Canyon Road, Ferron. Office hours are Monday through Friday 8 a.m.- 5 p.m., any species of tree may be cut, except Ponderosa Pine.

Ferron History Books and Afghans

Santa


Huntington City will have Santa at the Huntington Elementary on Dec. 19. Pre-schoolers can come and see Santa from 11:30-12:30 p.m.

Huntington City Christmas Celebration


A Fireman Fiesta on Dec. 1 at the Huntington Senior Center. Dinner will be served from 5-7 p.m. Bring the whole family for dinner and games.

Ballet Repertory Ensemble


The Ballet Repertory Ensemble will be holding the following performances at the Rio Theater in Helper on Nov. 29 at 7:30 p.m.; Salute to Broadway on Feb. 23-24; Spring Contemporary Concert on April 25 and 27; Spring Classical Concert on April 26 and 28.

Habitat for Humanity


Habitat for Humanity of Castle Country is accepting home applications. Appicants must complete 20 hours of work for the group, have been turned down for a conventinonal home loan and have a stable income. Volunteers and board members are needed. Donations may be sent to HHCC, P.O.Box 724, Price, Utah 84501. Residents may volunteer for workdays, donate aluminum cans or obtain applications by going to their new office located at 151 South 700 East, the All Scrapped Up building or by calling 435-637-9701.

Food Handler’s Class


Food handler’s classes will be held on Dec. 14 at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the Health Department, 25 West Main in Castle Dale. Christmas Extravaganza


The annual Christmas Extravaganza will be held Dec. 2 at the Emery County Recreational Center in Castle Dale. We are looking for people to provide entertainment that day from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. Performances could be any type of musical number, dramatic readings, poetry, stories, dance, drill or any numbers that add to our Holiday event.

Prehistory Week Poster Contest


State History announces the 2007 Utah Prehistory Week Poster Contest. The winning poster will be professionally printed and distributed nationwide to promote Utah’s exciting past, there will also be cash awards. TRUTH Campaign


The 2007 TRUTH from Youth Anti-tabacco advertising contest is giving fourth and fifth graders the opportunity to become a big-time producer. American Legion Fundraiser Raffle


The American Legion Post 73 is sponsoring two raffles to raise funds to help needy military families. Tickets can be purchased at Jones Ace Hardware, Desertview Federal Credit Union, Maverik in Huntington and Castle Dale, BK’s Stop and Shop, Wards 4X4, Hart’s, and Magnusons. Be generous, the families need your support.

Gingerbread House Festival


The Gingerbread House Festival, a new event in Emery County, will be held Dec. 1-2 at the Emery County Recreation Center. Admission is free. Entries are due by Nov. 30 for the competition, and Dec. 1-2 for viewing only. Everyone who wants to participate should build a gingerbread house and bring it to the festival. If house aren’t your style, try a sleigh or a gingerbread man or woman. These can be done by a group, family or individual. Each creation must be 80 percent edible, and the winners of the house division will be eligible to compete at the Utah County Gingerbread House competiton. Local Veterans Employment Representative


A local veterans employment representative visits the Castle Dale DWS Office the first Wednesday of each month. Appointments can also be arranged on other days by contacting Steve Wilkinson at (435) 636-2343. The LVER is also available Monday through Friday at Department of Workforce Services, 475 West Price River Drive, for questions about VA benefits, assistance with VA applications, employment assistance and other veterans issues.
