On Feb. 24, Elmo fire chief Clark Atwood presented the first annual Elmo firefighter of the year award. He presented Aaron Devereaux with the plaque naming him the firefighter of the year.
“This is a way to show our appreciation to the guys for all their hard work and dedication to the department and to Elmo,” said Atwood.
Devereaux was honored because of his attendance to meetings and trainings, his loyalty and dedication, and his attitude.
Following the award, Atwood opened a training session to teach the Elmo fire fighters about the self contained breathing apparatuses.
