Emery High rodeo club hosts their high school rodeo

This bull rider, Theron Lamb, Sanpete Club gets a little upside-down at the recent Emery High rodeo club rodeo at the Castle Dale arena.

Emery High Rodeo team held its annual rodeo on April 20-21 at the Castle Dale arena. High school students from all over the state of Utah participated in rodeo events. The rodeo began on Thursday evening with the cow cutting event which hosts some of the finest cutters in the state. Cade Whittle a member of the Emery High Rodeo team participated in this event finishing fifth. The new indoor arena also hosted the Carbon High Rodeo cow cutting event. The remaining rodeo events were held Friday and Saturday evening and Saturday morning slack. At the Saturday night performance the following high school seniors were honored: Brock Winn, son of Kash and Valerie Winn from Ferron. Brock participated in saddle bronc riding for a fifth place finish and team roping with partner Colton Grange. Tawn Jewkes, daughter of Derri and Stacy Jewkes from Ferron. Tawn participated in breakaway roping and pole bending. Wacey Allred, son of Guy and Tina Allred from Cleveland. Wacey participated in saddle bronc and won the bull riding. Chris Wilson, son of Debbie and Allen Staker of Elmo and Steve and Kelli Wilson of Huntington. Chris participated in bull riding. Lacey Branson, daughter of Jason and Trina Branson of Orangeville. Lacey participated in breakaway roping and barrels. Andy Sitterud, son of VaLynn Sitterud and Scott Sitterud of Huntington. Andy participated in calf roping and team roping with partner Chad Haskell.
This was their last home town rodeo in their high school rodeo career. By the time the seniors graduate they have usually participated in three or four years of rodeo.
Other Emery High students participating were AnnDee Adams, participating in barrel racing, breakaway roping and poles. Karidon Allred participated in barrels and pole bending. MacKenzi Grange participated in pole bending. Colton Grange participated in team roping. Justin Miller rode a bareback horse finishing in sixth place. Jacob Marshall rode a saddle bronc horse and a bull.
