Lynn Dumas
Lynn Goff Dumas, the youngest child of Charles Arlo and Merelda Peart Dumas passed away May 21, 2007 at LasVegas Nev. Lynn was born May 25, 1936 at Sandy, Utah.
He is survived by his children, Brian (Lori) Dumas and family, Salina; Shawn (Kim) Dumas and girls, Axtell; and Jaime Noffsinger and family, Richfield; brothers Ben Dumas, Moab; Douglas (Arva) Dumas, South Jordan; and sisters, Lola Walje, Riverton; Carolee (Bill) Luhrs, Moab; Norma Dean (Larry) Hawkinson, Green River; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Lynn was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Glen Dumas and sisters, Dorothy Growcock and Jean Thompson. Lynn will be greatly missed by all his family but always remembered for his love of life and sunny disposition.
Graveside services will be June 9, 2007 11a.m. at the Elgin Cemetery in Green River.
Bob Hackney
PRICE-Our loving husband, father, grandfather and uncle, Robert Ferrell Hackney, age 67, passed away suddenly May 29, 2007 in Price.
He was born Dec. 18, 1939 in Clarksville, Ark. to Morgan Ferrell and Mina Ellen Rowe Hackney.
Married Margene Tonel Sherman, March 15, 1974 in Ely, Nev.
Bob was a longtime resident of Carbon County and a graduate of Carbon High School. He served in the US Navy and was a member of the Price American Legion Post #3. In 1995, “Hack” retired from Energy West Mining Company as a warehouse supervisor.
“Utah Bob” as known to many, was actively involved in the community and highly respected throughout the Castle Valley. He shared a deep love for the area, and he especially loved preserving its history for future generations. He was a charter member of the Castle Valley Archaeology Society, The Utah Statewide Archaeology Society, charter member of the Castle Valley Raptor Chapter, Nine Mile Canyon Coalition, and a member of the Utah Historical Society. His efforts will always be appreciated.
Bob enjoyed fly fishing, watching the Utah Jazz, and most of all just spending time with his family and grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by his family and a community of friends.
Survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Margene Hackney, Price; three sons and one daughter, Marty Sherman, Salt Lake City, Lynn Sherman, Price, Duane (Tammy) Sherman, Helper, Christy Noyes and Gary Barker, Wellington; sister-in-law, Sharon Hackney, Price; eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and four nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents, brother, Donald Morgan Hackney; and son-in-law, Merrill Noyes.
Funeral service, Fri., June 1, 2007, 10 a.m., Mitchell Funeral Home. Family will be at Mitchell’s Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. and Friday one hour prior to service. Interment, Price City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the CEU Prehistoric Museum, 155 East Main Street, Price, Utah 84501.
Argene V. Olsen
After a life filled with charity and service, Argene V. Olsen, honored wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away in Price, Utah June 1, 2007 at age 93 surrounded by family.
Argene was born Nov. 24, 1913 in Provo, Utah to Arthur Alonzo Vance and Estella Jean Nelson. She attended Brigham Young High School and graduated May 20, 1932 during the Great Depression. She was able to find work as an office clerk to pay off her own high school debts and help her family financially.
She married Delon S. Olsen in 1943 and moved to Castle Dale where they had two sons Arthur Delon Olsen and Henning J. Olsen. In 1954, she was the first woman in the county to run for public office as county treasurer. Although she lost, the publicity landed her a job at Utah Power and Light, which she held for 23 years. She retired in 1978. She then served two full time missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Virginia (at age 72) and in California (at age 75). Between the two missions at age 74, she graduated with a four-year degree from Brigham Young University. Throughout her life, she was active in writing histories and doing genealogy. She managed her rental properties into her 90s.
She is survived by her two sons, Arthur (Shannon), and Henning (Ilene) Olsen, 11 grandchildren, Scott Olsen, Rebecca Cummings, Michael Olsen, Christine Stevens, Margaret Jolley, Elizabeth Cunningham, Katherine Kinder, Kent Olsen, Danielle Olsen, Eric Luke Olsen, and Diana Olsen, and 13 great-grandchildren (Allie, Samantha, Daniel, Nathan, Madilyn, Tyler, Brooklynn, Joshua, Mathew, Emily, Jessica, Bret, and Connor).
Funeral services will be held in Castle Dale third ward, 800 North 100 West on Thurs., June 7, 2007 at 1 pm. Viewings will be held Wednesday evening June 6, 2007 from 6-8 p.m. at Fausett Mortuary in Castle Dale and again at 12 noon prior to services June 7 in the Castle Dale Third ward chapel. Interment will take place at the Castle Dale City Cemetery under the direction of Fausett Mortuary.
Margaret E. Grubbs Heaps
HUNTINGTON-Margaret E. Grubbs Heaps, age 75, of Huntington passed away on May 26, 2007. She was born to Hayward Ira and Minnie Christensen Grubbs on April 15, 1932 in Los Angeles, Calif.
She grew up in southern California and graduated from El Monte High School in 1950. She married John Krstyen and was later divorced. She moved to Aurora, Utah and married Darland Heaps. They subsequently moved to a farm in Huntington, Utah.
She was a devoted wife and mother, working tirelessly on the farm and in the home.
Margaret had a variety of jobs. She could do anything she put her mind to. She worked for Broadway Department Store as a receipt auditor, Norton Air Force Base as a sheet metal worker on airplanes, Bourns, manufacturing electronic components for missiles, and at Thermamax assembling gas regulators.
She is survived by her husband Darland, five sons, Gregory (Marilyn) Krstyen, Jeffrey (Marilou) Krstyen, John Krstyen, Marty (Crystal) Heaps, and Shon (Deni) Heaps; six step-children, William (Alesia) Heaps, Darlene (Warren) Cole, Phillip (Sherri) Heaps, LaRene (Kevin) Jensen, Leonard Heaps, and Wendy (Lee) Jensen; siblings, Florence Cruse, Joseph (Dorothy) Grubbs, and William (Connie) Grubbs; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, and siblings Dorothy, Raymond, Eleanor, and James.
She will be remembered as a person of integrity and sacrifice, a hard working unselfish person who gave her life to the service of others. She was always modest in her wants and needs. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
The family would like to give special thanks to the nursing staff at Castleview Hospital.
Funeral services were held Fri., June 1, 2007 at 11:30 a.m. at Fausett Mortuary, 710 North Center in Castle Dale, Utah. Viewing was held Thurs., May 31, from 6-8 p.m., and Friday one hour prior to the service at Fausett Mortuary in Castle Dale. Interment was in the Huntington City Cemetery, under the direction of Fausett Mortuary.
Art Jeanselme Jr.
PRICE- Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend Art Jeanselme Jr. age 70, passed away at home unexpectedly June 1, 2007.
Born March 25, 1937 in Rock Springs, Wyo. to Art Jeanselme Sr. and Lola Burress Jeanselme. He graduated from Carbon High School and Carbon College where he was active in athletics. He married his high school sweetheart, Merilee Davis on June 28, 1958. He was the proud father of three children.
Art was a person of high integrity with a strong work ethic. He started working at a young age in the family business, Jeanselme’s Grocery Store and Restaurant. He was later employed by Albertson’s, as a meat department manager, and moved with his family to Colorado Springs, Colo. After spending six years in Colorado, he returned to Price and became a partner in the family business. He successfully managed the business for five years. He then sold it and bought a Radio Shack franchise, which he ran until his retirement. Art was involved in the community through the Elks and Kiwanis clubs.
After retiring, he enjoyed spending time fishing, dutch oven cooking and hosting numerous BBQ’s for friends and family. He and Merilee went on many fun filled trips associated with Radio Shack and in their trailer. He loved spending as much time as possible at Joe’s Valley. He was actively involved, and an avid supporter of his children and grandchildren. He never missed a game or dance recital. Art was a big sports fan. He also liked his time with “coffee club” friends, discussing current events. Art had a great love of family and is now reunited with his mother and father.
Survived by his wife, Merilee, Price; daughters; Teri (Jim) Scherzinger, Salt Lake City; Michele (Stephen) Maliesky, Scotts Valley, Calif.; son, Steven (Jen) Jeanselme, Salt Lake City; grandchildren, Aaron and Lindsey Scherzinger; Connor and Daria Maliesky, Logan, Reagan and Lola Jeanselme; sister, Merlene (Ernie) Lambert, Price; brother-in-law Ron Davis, Denver, Colo.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral service, Tues., June 5, 2007, 10 a.m. United Methodist Church, 10 North 200 East, Price. Viewing was held on Mon., June 4, from 6-8 p.m. at Mitchell Funeral Home, 233 East Main, Price. Interment, Price City Cemetery.

Willie Loyde “Dub” Yates
FERRON-Our devoted father and grandfather, Willie Loyde Yates, age 82, passed away May 25, 2007 at the Emery County Nursing Home in Ferron.
Born Feb. 27, 1925 in Eufaula, Okla. to Horace Loyde and Harriet Locke Yates.
Married Carol Henrie, Feb. 5, 1946 in Price, Utah; later divorced. Even though they were separated, they were never apart. “Dub” and Carol continued a lifelong relationship and they were together at the care center.
“Dub” was a longtime resident of California where he worked as a golf course superintendent for the Monterey Peninsula Golf Courses. He was extremely hardworking and he enjoyed working with his hands. Willie was a very generous and talented handyman who was always there to assist anyone in need. He loved to hunt, fish and he was an accomplished singer.
Survived by two daughters and two sons, Kathy (Steve) Walker, Delta, Myrlena (Craig) Funk, Ferron, Loyde D. Yates, Whittier, Calif., Rocky (Helen) Yates, East Carbon; two sisters and two brothers, Irene Miller, Vancover, Wash., Bernice Osborn, Tommy Davis, Bobby Davis, all of Fresno, Calif.; and 13 loving grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by a daughter, Rita Yates; brother, Billy Davis and a grandson, Keith Wiley Walker.

Paul Marquez
SUNNYSIDE- Our loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Paul “Rock” Marquez, age 60, passed away peacefully June 1, 2007 in Orem, while surrounded by his loving family.
He was born Oct. 22, 1946 in Dragerton, to Jose Amador and Isabel Lujan Marquez.
Married Delia Pacheco, Dec. 4, 1971 in East Carbon.
Paul was an active member of the Good Shepherd Catholic Church in East Carbon where he was treasurer for council 5663, a third degree knight for council 6147, and fourth degree knight for council 1570 of the Knights of Columbus. Honorably served his country from 1966 to 1968 in the US Army. His greatest love was his family, camping, fishing, hunting, woodworking, and working at the church. Paul retired from Kaiser Steel in 2002 and was a member of the U.M.W.A. Local #9958.
Survived by his loving wife, Delia; two daughters, JoAnn Marquez; Lisa (Bryan) Mena, all of East Carbon; grandchildren, Jesse, Amberia, Marriah, Izabel; three brothers, Max (Nora), Virgil (Carol), Mike (Teri), all of East Carbon; two sisters, Arvella Gallegos, Margie Sanchez, both of Salt Lake City.
Preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mary Alice Martinez.

Preston A. Parrish Jr.
SUNNYSIDE-Preston Alexander Parrish Jr., age 92, passed away June 1, 2007 in Price.
He was born April 17, 1915 in Denora, Penn. to Preston Alexander Parrish Sr. and Fannie Webb.
Preston married Margaret Boyd Dec. 25, 1947. They had nine children after 25 years of marriage, they later divorced. Married Margaret Robinson, Aug. 29, 1975 in Los Angeles, Calif. and together they shared 31 wonderful years of marriage.
Preston was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses. In 1950 he moved to Sunnyside area where he began working in the mines. He was a retired member of the U.M.W.A. Kaiser Steel Local #9958. In 2000 Preston was the Grand Marshal of Community Daze.
He shared a deep passion for music, dancing, and playing the harmonica and piano. Preston enjoyed sports, hunting, fishing and just keeping busy. He will be dearly missed by his family and many longtime friends.
He is survived by his loving wife, Margaret Parrish, Sunnyside; four sons and three daughters, Jackie (William) Lemons, Richmond, Calif., Jimmey Parrish, Pinole, Calif., Bertha Parrish, Layton, Jeff Parrish, Walnut Creek, Calif., Carl (Joni) Parrish, Salt Lake City, Preston A. Benjamin E. Bray
Price- Benjamin Edison Bray, age 90, passed away May 22, 2007 in the Emery County Nursing Home.
He was born March 17, 1917 in Bliss, Idaho to Solo Asa and Laura Crist Bray.
Married Pauline M. Bray in 1941 in Englewood, Colo., they were later divorced.
Survived by his children, Ace Bray, Houston, Texas; Charles Bray, Gateway, Colo.; James Bray, Littleton, Colo.; Debra Cassidy, Nocadochaus, Texas; sister, Mattie Gibbons, Middleton, Ore.; three grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
